Thanks for the heads up. When you say it's a tight fit is because the space around it or does it seemed to be tight screwing on?
Funny thing is I still have some silver paint left. I was thinking about hitting with some silver paint. Being that I have one coming in the mail I really don't have anything to loose . I think I'll spray it in the am. Will let you all know how I make out. I'll take some pics of it too.
Here are a few pics before touch up. Sorry it's not on the car yet haha. Will get some better shots in the am when I have some sun. I ended up going with GM Dark Blue Metallic (paint code WA8264 Dupli-color BGM0393). I was going to go with BGM0506 Indigo Metallic. This look a little darker.

Both, It is hard to get my fat fingers between the opening and the cap to get a good grip on it, and it was so tight that i couldn't get it twisted completely on. Seems like also the plastic and the aluminum expand at different rates and if it is hot when you install the cold billet cap the plastic will actually tighten up on it making it even harder to remove.. I just took mine completely off after getting so flustrated with it.

Got ya. Thanks for the info. If it gives me a problem I will return it and keep the plastic.

Ok so I finished my cover it came out great except the left side has a weird texture effect going on which means I'm probably going to redo that section of silver in the spring

I also have a billet oil cap coming so I can get the stock black one out of the silver just to complete the look

Had mine done by MS Performance

Since I lack all but the most basic creative abilities, I had mine done by MS Performance. Top quality paint work!

Gill- What does a paint job like that cost? I painted mine, but i'm not super happy with it. Might have it professionally done.

I had them do new covers, as I wanted to keep the originals for (god forbid) dealer service visits. With that said, new covers and paint cost about 450. Well worth it considering the quality of their work.

would something like this void the warranty? It's just paint...

My concern for dealer service has nothing to do with the warranty. Rather, my dealer is notorious for destroying things.... like a nicely painted engine and fuse cover.
