I never had the "hard/clunky" thing.

Good luck with your new transmission though.

Has anyone had their clutch stick while shifting between 1 / 2? Mine has done it a couple of times. And yes I am punching it, but nothing that the car shouldn't be able to handle.

Pengwen4646...this happened to me for the first time 2 nights ago. Has your clutch engagement poiont changed at all? Seem lower or higher?

I called a service guy at the dealership I bought the car from and told him what happened. He said it is all about being able to reproduce what happened. I cannot feel that my clutch engagement point changed at all...but I sure smelled the clutch burning when it happened. This has happend to a few other V6 M6 people as well. Some have had the engagement point change so severly that the pressure plate and clutch disc had to be replaced.

I am going to try to duplicate the problem on my own and see if it happens again. The service guy also said the clutch pedal not coming back up is more of a pressure problem and may be a bad slave cylinder.

well I'm back at the dealers this morning, I had them change the trans lube.

I had the tech show me the plug as he pulled it to drain. There was nothing but a little dust on it and lube looked great coming out (9997 mi).

I'm having amsoil 75/90 /gl5 put in it, we'll see if I can get 2nd gear today.....

I have never been able to get into 2nd when revving up to 6+k. I REALLY want this 1 annoyance to go away, I'm hopeful since there where no
"chunks" as many here have reported.

Later today:

It's improved, I can get 2nd everytime over 6k, so far 4 decent shifts and 1 with a crunch. I'm not calling this good. I'm going to drive it another 5k and try RP. Maybe something will give or change, my service guy said not to sweat it for now, I've got plenty of warranty left and the issue is logged. In a way I wish we would have observed something in the drain plug or oil.

You may want to hold off switching to Royal Purple if you already have Amsoil 75/90 in it, according to these test Amsoil out preforms RP. Amsoil is what I plan to switch to.

I saw that report too, I've been sold on amsoil for over 10 years.

It's the only oil that will keep pressure up and temp down in my 550 HP boat engine longer than 5 minutes running WOT. I've run as long as 30 min.

RP is also rated pretty well, the syncromax product may work better in this trans, I'm willing to make the compare, it won't be till late next year, I'll ride this out for now.

I got my car back late yesterday. As I mentioned before, they ended up giving me a whole new transmission. It drives pretty much like it did when I first got it. Slightly notchy at higher RPM's, but I don't have any trouble shifting at any time. I'm taking it easy for now, but time will tell.

Good to hear, I'm resigned to the fact that having that muncie or saginaw type action of yesteryear isn't realistic with these newer 5 and 6 speeds, I'd give anything for an old M21 in this car, but it's not my DD either so I don't need the extra efficiency that goes with the overdrives.

2 months ago my 2nd gear just went. I wasnt at the track but I wasnt driving like a granny either..few burnouts, and pedal to the floor on the higway sometimes. That being said, 2nd gear went and nothing but horrible grinding from 1st to 2nd...took it to the dealership and they said that indeed the gears and the synchros were gone. New parts were ordered and 8 weeks later they arrived and were put in. Seems to be nice and smooth again, but its only been a week. Im trying to get in as much time as I can since it's already 30* most days, had snow once already..and I want some miles on it so I dont start it up next spring and find out there is trouble with the gears the dealership says "why didnt you bring it in sooner?"

Also had to wait 2 extra weeks for transmission fluid to come in as apparently it's a specific kind for the Camaro???

The mechanic says he has done this to 3 SS's in the last two months, so me thinks there might be an issue with these components

Okay here is the problem. mine isnt grindign or anything. just like. its hard to put it into 1st from a stop or such. and putting into gear is a bit more hard? rough? more of a dual action type movement.

do you guys think swapping the fluids. to either amsoil or w.e. or lucas.

now you make ask why not RP. but i decide to ask a shop up here AWD Motorsports and they told me that Royal purple is nothing but royal purple crap. its just purple..

so yeah >.< Sorry summit :(

I just changed to amsoil and shifting improved, but I saw a spreadsheet somewhere here recently and RP syncromax was well rated.
