Hey guys, hows everyone doing?? I'm finally getting the Ice & Snow's taken off and putting on the P-Zero's in about an hour. I was wondering if anyone wanted to go to the Spring Fever meet today it ends at 6:30 its at the 2nd floor of the Cincinnati Mills parking garage. Its dominantly imports thats why I'd rather have other Camaro's to back me up Also, there's the first autocross even of the season tomorrow and I'm probably going to that.

Rims Rims Rims Rims Rims Rims Rims! Now I find it hard to believe that no one has opinions on which tires to go with. I know people have an opinion on which noun to use when discussing the metal things attached to the rotors, however I have yet to hear anything about tires. Let's do this!

What uses will you have for these wheels? Race (drag, autocross?), street driving only? What is your rwhp? Are you fuel injected (TT or SC) or NA? All these things go into the tire formula.

It will be almost all street use however I am a rather aggressive driver. I will be going to the track from time to time but not enough to make it worth changing my shoes. I am about to get to ~450rwhp with the headers and cam I am adding within the next couple weeks. Eventually I will have much more HP but for this set of shoes that is all I have to worry about. Hey jrhaus, is saying shoes a pet peeve, too? Ha ha. Hope not, because I would hate to start that again.

I got this info previously from Nine Ball:

For a street tire: Pirelli PZero Nero.

A streetable drag radial would be the Nitto 555-R (mostly race, some street).

For mostly track use (and never wet conditions use), these hook the most:

Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial II, 305/45-18
Nitto NT05-R Drag Radial, 305/45-18

He also recommends that if you're going to the track, get track wheels to swap out for track days.

I am using Pirelli PZeros on my car for street use. If you go with the other tires above that can be used as drag radials, they are softer and will wear out faster.

For the recommended tire sizes you can get those here:

Thanks, DE! So basically I should just stick with what came on there then huh? I have been reading some good things about the Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires as well. Also, where are people getting/installing their tires in the Dayton area? Thanks!

My wheels are 22" and I'm using Pirelli P Zero Nero tires Front: 265/30, Rear: 315/25.

If I had it to do over again, I'd get 20" wheels and put either the Pirelli P Zero Nero or the Nitto 555-R on them. If I had unlimited funds, I'd get the Pirellis for the street and get a second set of rear wheels - 18" with MT tires on them.

You might scope out the tire/wheels area to see what they're saying about the Continentals. I haven't heard much about them.

This evening I attended the First Shots course at SimTrainer in Dayton and enjoyed it. It was a bargain for only $25 and included the handgun (Ruger Mark III) and 50 rounds of .22 ammo. I thought the class would be full of young kids but was surpised to see that most were closer to my age and were roughly 50/50 men/women. So far, I would recommend the SimTrainer courses. On the 16th, I'm attending their Basic Handgun course and should have the opportunity to try a variety of handguns. This might turn into another hobby for me.

Be careful, shooting is an expensive hobby, well kinda like the cars. There is always something new to buy, and the rounds can get really expensive. It cost me the better part of $100 to go shoot for an hour.
