i thought the 2012 zl1 was competing with the 2012 gt500? And then 2013 z28 vs 2013 gt500? Remember Chevy responds to Ford, come on guys

I agree. This is going to continue to escalate on both sides.

). If they weren't going after these consumers, the 200+mph Top Speed wouldn't be such a huge marketing tool (remember not too many cars out there can go over 200mph). If the actual performance backs up the numbers on paper I'd definitely expect a 20-25% price increase (maybe more once you add all the "packages" onto the build sheet) especially if Ford wants to play with Corvette Z06 Sales...pricing this car at $60k would be a bargain to a guy looking to buy a Z06 or even a 2+2 Porsche 911 coupe ![]() I have faith in the ZL1 though. Remember FORD bumped their V8 up to 5.8 liters, the ZL1 has 6.2 Liters...so it potentially can go much higher than 650 HP with some tuning and tweaking. For $55k I'm happy with the ZL1, it's really as much as I wanna spend on a performance car right now anyway (I'm only 27 and married with a kid) so being that I KNOW FOR A FACT (Yes, Call me psychic if you want ) that the 2013 GT500 will be $60k or more I'm happy with my purchasing decision, even if the GT500 does a little better than the ZL1 stock for stock.

No, no, no. We compare the years that suit our needs and support our arguments.

Props to Ford on the GT500, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Sure, on paper the GT500 looks better than the ZL1, but that means nothing if that extra power can't be transferred to performance. Seriously, who thought the Philadelphia Eagles were gonna be 3-6 ten weeks into the NFL season. They looked great on paper...let's wait a bit before we crown either one of these beasts king of the muscle car. The ZL1 ran the Nurburgring in a very respectable 7:41, lets see how the GT500 does. There are still a lot of things that are unknown about both of these cars

2013 GT500 hits dealer lost in Spring 2012. These cars are direct competitors, Chevy is just releasing a very late 2012 model while Ford is releasing a very early 2013 model. |

Why does this thread keep getting moved? Was in general discussion for a bit, Zl1 for a bit, another section, then back to the ZL1 section...

Electronically adjustable shocks are an option on the GT500.
It will be interesting to see the potential of this motor. Swap a 4.0L whipple and make 900rwhp sounds like fun to me.

I am sure they are nowhere near as sophisticated as the ZL1's mag shocks. Probably comparable to the latest SRT8 Chargers electronic suspension. I'll bet they get the job done though.
