Here is mine lined up:
![]() ![]() ![]() On this pic -- note the rubber grommet and the plastic clip holding down the ac line -- if the CAI clears that clip, you can leave it, otherwise that needs to be removed along with the rubber grommet. The pic above, I had to remove the plastic clip: ![]() -Don

These are a blast from my past (almost 30 years ago - DAMN). I'll need to scan those...
The dude in sunglasses and dark beard is me @ 26 and 155 lbs (Had the Bob Seger Look then -- but had cut my LONG hair) -- man I got old, bald, and FAT ;o). These are pics of our midget @ Salem -- I can't find pic of our Sprints with our driver Gary Bettenhausen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Bettenhausen a really funny guy, hellofa driver, and super nice). Hope to find those, but those days were FUN! This was taken right after I finished GM school (diagnostics/computers), welding/fabricating (Hobart Classes @ a Tech School), and got my ASE Certification. Lots of fond memories and LATE nights racing... ![]() ![]() -Don

I remember this one @ Salem -- Rich Vogler -- just an incredible driver -- had a neck strap break I believe that caused him to hit the wall as he was taking the white flag and that was it -- I remember this one like yesterday -- we were all in shock...

Well, my ZL1 Add ons pinch weld lift assist, Roto-Fab big gulp/washer bottle reloc came in!
ZL1- Addons: ![]() ![]() ![]() I picked up my Race lid from ADM and left front splash shield from Huffines, so -- all go! First, jacked up the car using the new pinch weld assist and hockey puck: Worked great. Removed the wheel (of course loosened first before jacking up) and removed the splash shield. Once that was off, then came the washer bottle and left front brake duct. OEM washer bottle hold over 1 gallon!: ![]() Packing from Roto-Fab was excellent (DynoSteve from RDP got these for me quickly): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Instructions were awesome! -Don

Fitment of the big gulp:
![]() The Washer reloc took 5 minutes to slide it and bolt up! (yes I did hook up the hood release cable): ![]() ![]() Washer motor relocation per instructions: ![]() ![]() ADM Race lid: ![]() ![]() ![]() Roto-Fab Big Gulp in splash shield (using Roto-Fab supplied bolts, perfect!): ![]() Ah, as the splash shield should be: ![]() The ground area just drove me nuts -- this gave me a reason to fix it! Great products and service all around. I had to call Mike @ Roto-Fab to verify the big gulp on my ZL1 Conversion -- worked perfectly! Great products from ADM and Roto-Fab as well the service from DynoSteve from RDP! Here is an EXCELLENT video from Roto-Fab on the Big Gulp: -Don

Well, took it out after the changes (about 40 miles round trip). Nothing rattling and running fantastic!
About the only thing left is tune it for the latest updates and just drive it -- the car is running excellent (with the VVT SS1 I might add!) and the LSA Supercharger is just awesome. I never thought I'd have a car that had all of these amenities and still have this kind of HP -- We are SO lucky to have such great vendors and a platform that just allows us to go crazy like this -- Love the OEM feel of things I was lucky enough to add then tweak it with great aftermarket products... Heaven! -Don

Well took the car up to GPI for Ryan to adjust the cold running and dial in the ADM race CAI and RotoFab big gulp.
Dyno'd 590 to the wheels! Torque went up to 525. Not bad at all! Will be testing it out today ;o). Cam has broken in nicely for sure... Ryan did an awesome job dialing it in. Car ran spectacularly all the way back to Texas... -Don

So, now that I have 590 RWHP on stock upper pulley, time to look at making the engine breath better. Going to look into porting the lower manifold and snout to see if I can help the flow in and out. Probably will do a two piece pulley (2.85 or 2.75) 6 rib. My guess is making things flow better will keep IAT2 temps lower as the air flows better/faster. Should see 40 to 60 RWH without kicking up the boost too much. Already have headers and catless, ported heads and throttle body, so now just wanting the engine to be more efficient.

I finally got my coil relocation brackets from Andrew! Glad he was able to make them one more time...
After I do my last set of tweaks, these will go on... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=311556 -Don

Well, been driving the car a few days a week and notice a 'spitting' sound and a small 'tinny' noise when first starting and getting on the gas. Was not really noticeable until last week (as the temps went colder). After looking @ the last set of mods done (cradle bushings), it appears the exhaust bolts needed to be re-tighten. So, examining potential areas where the exhaust my be leaking and possibly hitting, I loosen everything, re-adjusted, and then, using a torque wrench, tighten the bolts to 55 ft. lbs. Took it out and, no spitting or tinny noises!
The spitting noise was really odd, and I've only heard that sound one time during my career as a tech -- and it was an very small exhaust leak -- HARD to find sometimes, but @ least with this one, I was able to retrace what was last removed and re-adjust everything. Weather here tonight was low 50's, upper 40's so, of course, the car ran like a beast in WOT test mode ;o). Gotta get my winter rims/tires ready for my trip to GPI for a set of tweaks to see what kind of numbers this will get. As the 6th Gens start making their way, the swan song of the 5th Gens just set that stage. The first time I saw the 5th Gen was on Transformers -- that just made my heart skip a beat -- loved the looks -- STILL do. The 6th Gens are an evolution and thus have incorporated much of our feedback and what the aftermarket has done -- can't wait to see what can be done on the new platform. I will say, I'm not in a rush to trade out my 5th gen -- just love what I've been able to do with it and a part of my soul is in it. I had that with my 1st Gen, and, regret ever selling it. Don't plan on that with this. I HOPE there is a ZL1 in the 6th Gen... will be watching for that. The SS has most if not all of what the 1LE had, and parts of the ZL1 so I'm not seeing GM/Chevy doing a 1LE right off the bat -- we'll see. To all those with the new 6th Gen -- happy modding... -Don

hammdo, with a stock driveline (I'm not sure what's still stock on yours) have you noticed much in the way of driveline slop. We have different transmissions, but I notice quite a bit with mine, and I wonder is a one-piece driveshaft with new hardware would help. I'm interested in a before-and-after comparison.

I will let you know the after. I can feel it when I get on it currently. The cradle doesn't move now, but as I add power, I feel it's a matter of time on the stock components. So, once I've made these upgrades, I'll be going to GPI and see what it does. I'm looking for a smoother feel when the power is applied. Then, it will be off for a (private) track session from one of the area tracks (if it's not too crazy priced... Looking into that). Some of the tracks offer lessons during the week if you want private tutoring.. Sounds like it would be fun that way...
