man, i guess i'm biased, but i'd pick the 6liter GTO with good tires and wheel hop controlled any day. im just really partial to the ls-2.

As of right now, my GTO is quicker than my SS by about 2 tenths, but not for long

MAN didn't i already say. the LS2 GTO with its IAt changed to a quick acting one and an Iat relacation HAS Definitively got the GTO into the consistent 12's with a good driver on manual. and Summer tires....

Its a Grand tourer, So certian changeds are warrented for such a match up.

( in my defense some guy contacted me on the forums he said i promise you do 2 simple things + some real rubber.....and you'll see 12's everytime. well almost.)


I'd say GTO every time.....unless you have a freak LS3/l99 that LS2 was a bear in stock form in cool weather.


Its airbox and heat soak/ timing pulling self was its achiles heal
Auto vs Auto...lol definitely GTO

everyone thinks the GTO was a NEW CAr ..it was a proven Holden design quickly brought to US market to fill the viod GM created by stopping the F-bodies....which could have easily evoled into something wonderful in 8 yers..

It must have had some driver problems..but two weeks ago at my local strip there was a 06 GTO that was having a damn hard time breaking 13.8 ET

Now..this would make sense if alot of cars were running slower, but they werent. So..who knows.

Driver for sure. Most of the Camaro and GTO owners here make the cars look bad. I mean I can prolly take their cars and within 3 passes beat them by a bunch, its that bad. The quickest Camaro has been a 13.3 that I have seen, and that was an auto with boltons.

400 hp w/ 3725lbs vs. 426hp w/3860

power to weight favors the Camaro about as much as the power to weight favors the new mustang.

so......

5.0>SS>GTO

but all pretty much a drivers race.
