my best stock was around 5 seconds, now it's 3.8 seconds still with the pirelli tires. For me the best times I got was in Sport Mode (let the computer shift), turn traction controll off (very important otherwise timing is pulled), no brake stand, ease into the throttle in first so you don't spin too bad once you are moving a bit then push pedal down farily quickly to get to WOT and hang on. Make sure there are no cops around.

Don't forget that if you're in Manual Mode (by using TapShift: M1, M2, M3, etc.), you can get back to Sport Mode by holding the UpShift button for 2 seconds (confirmed with 'S' on the dash).

And here I thought my m6 is suppose to be the hard to launch transmission choice. I'm so confused.

You ALWAYS start out in 1st gear when using D (drive) or M (sport). If the computer is doing the shifting you will ALWAYS start out in 1st gear.

The ONLY time you don't start out in 1st gear is when you are using the tap shifts M (manual tap shift mode).

This has been discussed many times in the past.

Here is a test to prove it.

In D (Drive - computer does the shifting)
Start from a dead stop and mash the gas. Your car will shift from 1st to 2nd gear at 37 mph. That's where 1st gear redlines.

In M (Sport - computer does the shifting).
Start from a dead stop and mash the gas. Your car will shift from 1st to 2nd gear at 37 mph. That's where 1st gear redlines.

If you were in 2nd gear the computer wouldn't shift until 64 mph. That is where 2nd gear redlines.

In M (manual - tap shift mode) - You are in tap shift mode because you have touched the tap shift while in Sport mode.
In manual/tap shift mode if you slow down the computer will drop you down to 2nd gear. You MUST tap down to 1st gear or you will start in 2nd gear.

Again, the ONLY time you start out in 2nd gear is when you are using the tap shifts. All other modes you ALWAYS start out in 1st gear.
SGO is correct

This is new to me.

I have always done a shift to D, then back to M to get out of tapshift mode. Will have to try his today.

I believe I remember this being discussed in another thread. And it doesn't seem to work on 10s (maybe just early models). So your vehicle may not do it, OBSSEST.

But I can't seem to find the thread right now. So I might be imagining things...

All the same confusion went on when the C6 Corvette got the A6 with the paddles..... It doesn't matter if your in D or M (Sport mode in the Corvette) IF YOU DON'T TOUCH THE PADDLES THE TRANS WILL ALWAYS START IN 1ST... PERIOD END OF STORY..

FOR THE BEST 0-60 TIMES, PUT THE CAR IN M AND DON'T USE THE PADDLES... slight power braking might help if traction is good...

Just to clarify, this techinue of getting out of tapshift mode by holding down the upshift button for a few seconds, does NOT work on my 2010.

I have to shift the lever to D to exit tapshift mode.

Interesting. I wonder if there's a firmware update available from the dealer?

Mines a 10 and it will go back to s mode when you hold the upshift button. Must be the very early models that don't.
