When I was a freshman in high school, a young man from my home town let me drive his red 67, 3 speed Camaro. I was hooked after that. When I first saw the 70 1/2 Camaro, I was star struck. Everything I learned about it made me want one. I had no idea about exotic cars like Ferrari. If I had seen one, I would have loved it too, but it would not be something I could afford. For the blue collar working class I came from, the Camaro was something I could buy, drive and love. My friends and I were happy with our domestic pony cars.

I was 18 when the neighbor got a new 69 SS396 Camaro. It was such a beautiful car, I wanted one. When the 70 1/2 came out it totally depressed me. I eventually bought a '79 Z28, which I had for 15yrs, and have been a fan of the Gen2's ever since.

I think the problem I had with the 70 1/2 was the grill. Just didn't like the way it looked.

I'm with you. The 2nd gen F-cars are lust-worthy. The 1st gens not so much. At least not for me. A blasphemous statement around here I'm sure.

I've always preferred the 2nd gen over the 1st gen too. I never really paid attention to the 1st gen until the 5th gen was introduced.

Our town was the Opposite! Lots of Camaros & Vettes. I delivered Newspapers and one of my Customers had a "Motion" '69 Camaro, a "Motion" Corvette and a "Motion" Avanti! One of my HS Classmates had bad Burn Scars on one side of his face - he must have gotten a decent settlement as each year he had a New Firebird (always a Formula or a T/A). My Godfather worked at the Ford Dealership and his personal car was a Shelby 350 Convertible.
