The opening in temp plate looks a little big. I couldn't see any foam when i did mine. I see in second picture u have tape to make up size?
I did make my cut out very tight and had to trim hood a second time for vent to sit level and line up. |

yea the problem is that on the factory hood the scoop is recessed in the hood. but I think I have a step tool at the shop that I can do the same thing. if I do I will post pics of it when I do it.

The clear one I sent you the Inside of the template the "hole" in the middle is what you cut out. You can test fit it over your scoop. Your cardboard one is too big. The edges need to be almost touching the sides of the vents that come down on the scoop. |

Are you sure they are made out of Aluminum? It looked like steel to me when I cut into it... That would be nice if there was no worry of it rusting. It not steel, duh... I did a magnet check. Thanks for the info Synner. Last edited by Jerry7297; 03-23-2014 at 10:57 AM. |

It shouldn't rust but it can corrode.

Just ordered my vent form GMpartsdirect. Should be here by end of the week. Excited to put it on, I have been wanting to put some sort of vent on this car since I bought it.
I am confused on the template. What line do you use to make the template and what do you actually trace onto the hood to cut? That is the only part confusing me about this right up. Otherwise, great work OP. I might be bothering you during the installation process! Lol VR, Ryan

-I took one of the sides of the box it came in and cut it off. -Turn the Extractor upside down and trace it on to the cardboard. (There is a curve to the extractor. I did hold down the back and the front of it to the cardboard as I traced it.) -Cut out the template. -Then I measured .5" (1/2 a inch) from the outside of the template measuring in and mark it. Do that ALL the way around it about every 1 inch. a little closer on the front. ) -Then connect all of your marks then cut out the the inside mark. -When cutting the cardboard make it easy on yourself and use a new razor knife blade. |
