It costs me $30 more a month than my old truck did that I bought used with 77,000 miles on the clock (I traded it in on the Camaro). That's factoring payments, gas, and insurance. I based gas on average MPG. 24 for the Camaro, barely 17 for the truck. Thing is, the truck wouldn't break 18 on straight highway. I can touch 30 in the car on straight highway runs. The gains start to open up there. Plus the far lower miles (4500 so far) and a warranty. Now, the car is financed for 60 months where as the truck was 48. Once OT picks up at work I'm going to start putting more more money into the principal on the car. Ideally I'd love to make double payments or close to it.

Won't need it! It will be paid off in just about 13 months total.

Car is easy to afford, it's the mods and detailing that cost the money.. I don't get it people tell me all the time it must be nice to be able to afford a Camaro, The Camaro dont cost that much compaired to other Vehicles.. Paid 33,000 for my SS, My new Silverado was 49,500. Hell a Chevy Traverse will run you 35,000..

Again it's the Mods that kill me, Fixing to drop 10,000 on upgrades, on top of what I have already spent.. I just try not to keep track of what I spend so it don't hurt so bad if I sell it,

When I bought the car in April of last year, it was a bit outside my price range, but still manageable because I did not spend very much money on other unnecessary things. 3 months after I bought the car, I met my wife. She can't work, but doesn't qualify for disability because I make too much. But not enough to handle all of my expenses. Every month is a challenge to juggle funds. I would trade in the car, but my credit has gone south and there's no way for me to get approved for even a small loan on a different car, plus I am slightly upside down on the SS.

All that notwithstanding, I love my car, and I am working on a budget that will allow me to keep it without worrying about other things. The one good note is that I don't have to worry about the bank coming to take it back, because since the month I bought it, I have had my payments taken directly out of my paycheck as an allotment. So the one thing that is ALWAYS on time is my car payment

My girlfriend of 8 years is an accountant and basically pays all the bills and I worry about nothing. Sometimes if I go off the deep end she might be like "hey babe, you might want to chill out a few days you're at xxx.xx dollars". I stressed hard core over bills in my first marriage so I love this arrangement. She makes sure everything is paid, Credit cards are at zero, tucks a bit in savings a little to the IRA, some on stock and I blow the rest. So when she ok'd the car I assume it was in a budget or she would have laughed at me.

While I pay more for this at than I did the 350z I had before it. It's not really a burden on us in fact it was my wife's idea to get me the Camaro so I could pick up our daughters after school if need be. But like some one above me said its not the car it's the mods and I just barely started with window tint a light side marker tint from big worm graphics!

When I ordered my Camaro, it was just me and the wife. 10 days after ordering it, I found out she was pregnant. We kept the Camaro on one condition, that we could trade my Jeep Commander in on the Camaro, and trade her Mazda MX5 on a brand new car for her and keep the same monthly payments we had at the time.

Well, long story short, we managed it bar about $9 a month, so I got my Camaro, and she went from her dream car, the MX5, to a brand new VW Jetta to tote little Jenson around in.

So a month after we bought the two brand new cars, she was laid off, at 7 months pregnant. She was out of work for 9 months after that. With a new baby, times got tough. Fortunately we save money each month.

She got to working again, lasted 11 months and then was laid off yet again. So another two months without work, and now she's temping. It gets us by.

I know if I had to, I would ditch the Camaro in a second for the family, but we are getting by so far. A little under 3 more years to pay on the VW Jetta, then it's ours, and we'll be down one car payment. 11 months after that, the Camaro will be paid for. Then we'll be able to breathe a lot easier!
