ZL1

My 2013 ZL1 will never see racing. It has taken a long time to get back the performance that I remember the (1969) ZL1 started. I was lucky enough to get to see one of the (69) originals were new, in 1969, at a dealership in texas, I was 19 just out of high school. I will never forget that day nor will I never forget the feeling when I got my 2013, felt like I was 19 again. Thanks Chevrolet!

Mine is my daily driver. Showed it twice, no track yet, but it will happen if I have time.

Will I put my car out on a track and compete with real race cars during a race, no. Will I take it to a track and learn what the Camaro Team did to make this the best Camaro ever built, yes I did. Driving the ZL1 on the street is a profound joy but taking it to a track and letting the car show you what she can really do is truly amazing. No matter how hard you push her into a turn, she glides through and only wants you to push her harder. Pete from Pedders told me that everyone should track this car at least once, just to see what she can really do and do effortlessly. I took a Hooked on Driving School at Homestead and loved every minute on the track. I will do it again when the rains stop and the weather gets cooler. As much fun as she is driving around town, she is infinitely better on the track. Do it at least once, I promise that you will not regret it.

I will definitely take it to the strip when break-in is done, at least once. A lot of my friends want to see what I can get in the 1/4. I agree with OldJedi. I love just cruising all the back roads, curves apon curves, and getting the feel like it's a straight road. But I have to go and 1/4 mile it at least once. Damn that break-in. I feel literally 30 years younger just listening to her exhaust when I start Natasha up. She says she wants to be ridden hard, but I have to tell her not for the first 1500 dates.

That said, TPower can be a strong influence, so it just might, once or twice, see the quarter mile, but again in fully stock form.
While Lapping Nights doesn't really constitute racing, I was hoping that when our 'ships' (cars) come in, I might entice you to come over to Grand Bend and do a few laps with us, ZEDL1. The manager of the place said if we caught him on a good night and if the drag strip was prepped he'd let us take a few runs. That was when my brother and I took his SS there earlier this summer.

I've never modified a car and I'm no mechanic. The only thing I have worked on was a snowmobile - a hell of a lot more simple. Excuse me..... I have to go look up 'catch can'.

No racing for me either. I bought it to drive to car shows and enjoy it. Traded the 2010 2ss and not sorry. I love this machine. 1000 miles going on 4 Months.
I will never take this baby to the track.

I haven't been on a track since I use to go to Las Angeles Raceway North of Palmdale Ca back in the 80's, but I will take mine to our local track here in Huntsville Al. just to see what she has. Plus I want to run her against my 2010 SS/RS. Ought to be a blast to see how they do

This was the first car I have ever taken to the track! It's been on an autoX, and the drag strip and I cannot wait to do both again! Actually, a few Saturday's ago I was at a car show during the day and the drag strip the same night. I also daily drive the car whenever possible (when I am not traveling for work). When I am on the road, my wife drives it daily.

This car is just an all around performer no matter the venue!

I've lurked here a while because I wanted a ZL1, but it failed the helmet test (I ended up with a Boss 302). I can't imagine buying a car with 580HP and a N Ring tuned suspension and not take it to a track day.

In a car like the ZL1 or the Boss 302, you can't experience the full performance of the car on the street for more than a few seconds without risking ending in handcuffs in the back seat of a police car or worse. Only at a race track can you experience the true performance of the car.

If you spent 60K on a 580HP muscle car to take your grand kids out for ice cream, well it's your money, but it seems to me like that money was wasted.

I have a guy in my Corvette club that bought a 2011 supercharged Callaway Corvette Convertible (new in 2011) and he hardly drives over the speed limit, let alone get it anywhere near a track. And that car cost almost $100K!

I am getting my 2013 ZL1 Convertible as my daily. So it will have fries in the seat, straw wrappers on the floor and cup holders stuck in there from the condensation from my fountain drinks, people are going to write "wash me" on my body panels cause its so dirty, and probably smell like a$$ from farting in it. I can't wait!
