I know hes not askin about an SS but, dunno if it's an issue or not but along with the v8 he gets brembo brakes, better suspension, awesome exhaust note , and the turbos will void warranty and I'm guessing create some reliability issues. Plus reasale would be a bitch. Just other things to consider if he wants an SS. But I dunno what the difference on insurance is. Honestly didn't think it would be that different

Awesome exhaust note? Not on a stock SS! As for insurance, mine went up $12 a year when I made the jump from my LLT.

True enough. Stock SS isn't loud enough. Nothing an axle back won't fix or muffler delete. But ya $12 a year is negligible. From my 09 Malibu to my SS went up maybe $9 a month. But I'm over 25. Maybe makes a more signicant difference to an 18 year old

Isn't the 1LS strictly a stick shift? That's why I said if he wants an LS auto he'll need to get a 2LS.

Thank you for clarifying.

And yes I did read your post above, but "mods" is a very generic term, and this thread has mentioned everything from adding leather seats to a 1LS to turbocharging. Adding leather, probably not gonna affect your insurance. Adding 100+ HP, probably will.

Yes, it is strictly a manual, and I misunderstood your post. I read it as "get a 2LS if you want auto," sorry.

I'd rather get an auto 1LT or 2LT if I had to have an auto, just due to the gearing of the 2LS.

If he does turbocharge he will buy LT, and he said he won't buy the RS package because all he wants from it is the Halos, otherwise he plans on adding aftermarket rims. He even told me the exact rims lol.

The LS is not a manual only, that's the 1LE. Big difference between a LS and a 1LE.

I was surprised that there was absolutely no difference in insurance premiums when I checked SS vs LT...but I'm over 40. I'm sure it would be a different story if I was 18...and probably well-deserved.

Lots of misinformation in this thread.

Yes, a 1LS is a manual only. If you get an auto LS, it's a 2LS. Talk about misinformation.

I know the difference between a 1LS and a 1LE, thanks.

I said LS, did not mean to write 1.
