Anyone plan on buying the extended warranty?

We got the extended warranty. I get oil changes that are 81.00 that is covered w/ the extended warranty. It makes us feel better having it. Plus it's supposed to cover if my seats get ripped or my paint has problems. And it might be a waste of money. Don't know yet.

When I ordered mine, I told them up front that I want nothing attached to the car. They said, "we have to make some money" then I told them, "You made your money off the 07 Suburban you sold me in 07" He looked at me and scratched his head. "Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me". The only reason I trade with this guy is because he had the best service department in eastern Washington State.

No one offers it, which is why GM needs to.... my point is the perception of GM right now is still not very good, that Honda makes more reliable cars, yada yada. The only way to pull new customers in who aren't GM lifers is to take away the number one bullet in their amunition. "GM makes junk, their cars aren't reliable".... "Really? We think they are, in fact we are willing to prove it by offering a warranty no one else in the business offers to truly stand behind our products and give you a reason to buy one of our cars instead of another Honda"

When I went in Sept to pick up the 2010 1SS I was told Chevy had a 60 day return policy no questions asked. They offered me $500 cash OR a warranty from GM that extends out to total of 5yr and 60000 miles. I have driven nothing but black Camaro V8, 6spds since 1995 so I tend to keep them for 6+ years so the deal seemed a good one for me. The previous Camaros gave me good service with not many expensive problems after warranty ran out. The new one seems a better design and well built, so I am hopeful. And if all that fails, good friend of mine is Service Mgr at a big Chevy dealer in Houston and he helps to keep it running well

I always buy the extended warranty, ever since my first new car my husband made me buy the warranty on. I was not happy, convinced it was a waste of money. Until I blew a hole in the block with 42K miles on it and I still owed 10 payments on it. (it was a Nissan)

I have never felt like I have not gotten my moneys worth out of any of the warranties on any of the four I bought, except the one on the Mustang and that's only because is only had 12k miles on it when a stupid girl made a left turn right in front of me when I was doing 55-60 miles an hour in a Saturn. I got a full refund and a new '00 SS...

Remember ....you CAN buy the extended warranty at 35,999. So wait and see if you keep the car and if it has given you cause to think you need it. Buy it THEN and they don't have your money for 35 months. It does not kick in till the other warranty has lapsed so IMO not a good idea to buy it.

OR, at 2 years, 364 days if you drive less than 12K a year on average.

If they want to waste their time with me, fine.

If they want to not waste their time with me, simply ask one simple question: am I interested in extended warranties? I answer no, I sign the papers, their time is not wasted.

I look at it as it's not really my time they're wasting...... the day I pick up my car I always do it on a Saturday and make no other plans untill that night. And in all honesty, I am a very patient person. Give me a cup of coffee and a muffin and I'll sit and listen to everything you have to sell..... and I'll tell you no.

You want to keep me around for two hours instead of working with other customers? You go right ahead. I'll sit and listen to all the sales pitches left and right and even those I've never heard before.

If the extended warranties were not a money making gimmick then make a standard 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty come with the new car when you buy it.

I HAVE ONLY OWNED ONE OTHER NEW VEHICLE AND I PURCHASED A 100,000 WARRANTY AND IT PAID OFF. MY DELEMA IS POSSIBLE MODS THAT WOULD VOID THE CAMARO'S WARRANTY. IT STARTED SNOWING HERE RIGHT AFTER I BROUGHT IT HOME AND I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL SPRING TO SEE JUST HOW FAR I WANT TO GO WITH MODS. IT'S NICE YOU CAN WAIT TO PURCHASE THE EXTENSION.
