What was said was that the Camaro might move to the smaller Alpha platform. But no one ever said it would start with the Z28 or even if it would be in the next 2-5 years. |

Considering the price on a Z-28...That price 55 - 60K...
There is a SLP at my dealership for $74900... So the Z28might just be worth it...Would never pay that for SLP...Sorry...

By the time the z/28 is released, anyone who thinks it will be under 50 grand is smoking the wacky.

It may base at under $50k like the GT500... but practically you won't find a GT500 w/o either the SVT PP or the Nav system so they are all $52k plus. It's how Ford cooks the under $50k mantra.

The Z28 is gonna be awesome and well worth the $50,000 or so it will cost, IMO.

At that price, and for what I believe it will come with, even within a couple thousand of that would be totally worth it - even if I can't afford it. With the extra development time it's going to have over the current models, I think they'll improve performance a lot more than people are going to initially give it credit for.JMVHO.

I agree on the $50-52K price range by the time you get what you want with it. I'm hoping for alot more than performance/drivetrain improvements. I'd like some better quality materials in the interior for the price point it's going to be at.

The problem is for 15K more than a SS you could mod the hell out of the SS and beat the Z28. Yeah you have all the warranty issues and stuff but I don't think you would see allot of SS owners dumping there cars to get a Z28 if they got the calculators out.

If they only want to sell 3K units a year then sell it 50k+ If they want to sell 10k+ a year they better price it in the mid 40's If people think that the Camaro numbers are going to be higher than Mustang from now on need thier heads examined. I'm in FL and you can buy any Camaro/stang/srt8 any flavor right off the lot, there are TONS down here going under sticker. -bobby

It's more than just about performance. You can buy a $5K POS and add a ton of money into it and make it faster than a Z/28, but at the end of the day your POS still isn't worth nearly what you put into it. To me it's about having a vehicle that is kept to lower production numbers so it's more rare, and keeps the resale value higher. That's why the Mustangs have lasted so long. Almost anyone can afford one and you can still buy a high end model that's production is limited. They've always had something for every price point. Hopefully this will work for GM now too.

GM will likely make more money on each SS than each Z28. Therefore..if they can sell 6,000 SS's, 250 Z-28's and another 4,000 V6's each month ..they've made more money AND wont be stepping much on the Corvette/CTS-V's toes. Oshawa is already running at high capacity to try and meet demand..I'm not sure they can handle an additional ~1,000 a month to sell 10-12,000 Z28's a year. If I had to bet on GM producing either 3,000 or 10,000 a year..I'd go with 3,000. Follow the Mustang model and look at the sales trend..3,000 a year keeps demand really high for the GT500 (the 2011 MY is already almost sold out). If you produce a magnificent Camaro that people cannot get enough of..you can price it at 50,000-55,000 and it WILL sell. |
