I hate to say it: That sure is a purdy car.

It still is missing that "I am SO GOING TO KILL YOU!" look that the Camaro has, but it sure would not have a problem turning my head around to see it.

We live at the very best time to be muscle car fans.

The profile is always odd to me with the 2005+ stangs... trunk hangs too far out over the back axel, or the axel is to close to the door.

if you want the warranty & prestige than the gt500 great! but when im done building my car it will have the same power than the 2011 800hp Gt500 or more depending on my plan of action after the blower install... and cost less $$$. Plus the fun part is the build IMHO! making it your own.

Yeah and when you sell the car you will instantly lose almost all the value you put into modifications. This is something people need to keep in mind when talking about price.

The car will not be 130k like someone stated. At the very most, the total cost will amount to ~90k. They're not going to all-of-a-sudden toss an extra $50,000 on the price with only a 50hp bump and they are obviously not going to infringe on the 100k mark where the 1,000hp shelby is supposed to be priced. This car will pull 1G+ on the skidpad, trap in the 130s and brake like a monster. If you wanted to build a gt500 to these specs, sure you could do it cheaper, but the rarity isn't there and the resale isn't there. At 80k, this car will smoke a z06 and anything else in its price range, so it is a pretty good value if they hold the pricing in the same region. Personally, I wouldn't buy it, but if my needs and wants were different I had 80k laying around, my position would be very different.

Ain't that the truth!!! The supercharged 5.4 has never had any trouble making big power. But the car has alway had a tough time planting that power, even in stock form. With 800 HP I can't even imagine how bad that car would light up the tires in the first 3 gears(and probably 4th) on street tires.

I don't get the tire thing, I saw the tires on the 2011 GT500 in a showroom (it had the 5.5K upgrade svt pkg on it)

The tires looked like an extra soft summer only compound, designed for grip? So are you saying those tires are booty?

lastly-- If you can afford a 55K dollar powerful monster like the Gt500, then seriously what is a set of tires at that point?

I have never walked out of a dealership because of the OEM tires.. LOL.. Something that is a normal replaceable/wearable item..

What is next...(potential buyer)"I don't like the air filter,, no thanks".. (salesman) "sir, you can put an AC/Delco or FRAM filter in if you want. They are 11 bucks at autozone".. (potential buyer) "No thanks, I will keep shopping, this car isn't for me".. lol

If you can't afford another set of tires, you likely better shop something cheaper than a GT500............. or SuperSnake.

the stock tires on the 2011 gt500 are a bit painful to run with if your looking for good grip.

if you opt for the svt performance package... you get the goodyear supercar g2's...

those are a dream. (very similar to the p-zero's)

The tires on the 2011 GT500 with the PP option are far better than the standard GT500 rubber. But still only 295's in the rear a nice 325 out back would be help. The SVT PP option is only $2000 in Canada and $3495 in the USA. So I don't know where you got the $5,500 figure from.
At least we get one good option deal up here in Canada. lol To bad the base price is way higher.

just as a heads up to everyone...

the "base" package @ 750hp is 34,245

the upgrade to 800hp is another 1,500 (750 of that is accounted to the polished mandatory finish)... not bad. $35,745 gets you 800hp on pump gas.

(that plus the base cost of a 2011 gt500 at 48,645 [sticker] makes it the cheapest [84,390!] car to come with 800hp stock and a warranty...)

//edit

for my fellow `11 gt500 owners... if you have the svt pp installed, you get a $1,170 credit to your build

Kind of a a poor credit for an option you pay $3495 for in the USA. Shelby American keeps the wheels/tires plus the suspension parts they don't use (it's in the upgrade contract that you don't get back your old parts). Then they sell them for much more than the $1170 credit that they give you. You're much better off buying a non-PP car for the conversion.

woah there little feller... who the f*&^ told you that?

the credit comes cause you have an upgraded suspension set on your car as is... they dont remove anything to resell later.

and you get your wheels and tires back...

so they're actually just giving you a credit for the (wholesale) cost of the PP minus the wheels/tires...

you need to get your facts straight boy! (and dont be angry cause you own a 2010... jk!)
