What i want to see.. is a twin turbo system. How cool would that be? I'd take it over a supercharger any day of the week, hands down.

Twin Super Charged =D lol.
Anyway, yeah, I suppose if Turbos will be the only FI option for the V6, I'll have no choice but to go turbo... but honestly, if i was going to get a turbo car, I'd go for an STI, EVO, or GTR lololz =D But what am i talking about... we are on a Camaro forum

I'll second that. Really, when it comes down to it, I'll take whichever FI gets me the most bang for my buck.

So the consensus on forced induction for the V-6 is no consensus.
Roots Twin turbo Best bang for your buck. A supercharger kit, based on the prices V-8 kits that are out there, are about $6500 for a complete kit plus install. A twin turbo kit will be similar priced. The limiting factor will be the engine strength , the fuel injectors, the fuel pump on the DI car. Any of the systems will be more than enough to make a good amount of power. So at $8000+ installed, how many V-6 guys will keep the 6 vs going with a V-8 car? |

This is like an endless debate. The market is there, but vendors dont want to take the chance(understandable). The consensus is that we want some form of FI, and most people dont even care what kind it is, they'll likely jump on whatever is developed and performs the best. As far as pricing goes, thats a big concern also, keep it around the 5-7k installed pricing and people will buy. Especially those with the LS where they spent less for the camaro, and can put more into mods.

Seriously? the V8 question again? =O MOST of us V6ers didn't buy V6 becasue we couldn't afford a V8. I would pay for it, just because it would be a fast V6. But like I said, if I wanted to go turbo, i'd buy an STI, EVO or GTR lolz =D

I like to see the 6 cylinders holding their own, but even within the Sy/Ty world, the guys that really want to go quick have given up on the 6 cylinder, and go with a forced induction V-8. I like the 6, the ideas behind the 6, but the old adage is "there is no replacement for displacement". Technology will get you close, but add the same tech to the bigger engine, and it will make more power. To give you an example on a 3.7 liter VQ37 engine (non-DI). The STILLEN 370Z supercharger kits are right around $6000 plus install and get you about. 438WHP - 343LB/FT Torque +155 Horsepower at the Wheels! @ 8 psi on 91 octane fuel . http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...SAN&model=370Z |

Probably given up due to lack of vendor interest.
Some people cant afford the V-8 with FI options, so they go with the 6. Ive seen several 4 and 6 cylinder cars hold there own with the 8's. |

I've got an LLT engine (3.6L SIDI V6) turbo match worksheet done on my computer right now. The nice thing is that I got to input all the real numbers of engine dyne data so I can calculate the right flow rates at particular boost pressures. Now I just have to layout some points on some different compressor maps to determine what size turbos I want to use on my car. I like turbos much more than superchargers. Properly sizing the compressor wheel, exhaust wheel and housings arrives at a much more dialed in setup, plus its easy to stay out of boost if you want.
Now I've got to tackle that engine management issue... I know all the tools I need. I just need the time. Now back to playing with hybrids... (BTW this is Sean@Stillen's gf) |
