I was looking at the challengers a few months before I actually saw a camaro in the wild..... I drooled. I had a 2006 charger that I loved and was returning to the same dealer I had bought her from to get a challenger. I already had my facts on the camaro, engine, cost, etc.... and asked how they could compare the $37,000 sticker price of a hemi to the $31,000 v6 when I could get the 6 for less, save on gas, and have more horsepower in a camaro 6 that I did with the charger. He kinda laughed and said well its a HEMI at 370. And I said well if you want to sell me the HEMI, reduce the price! Why pay for all that when I could get the 6 loaded for a hell of alot less than that hemi? If I wanted to pay that much, the camaro ss has more horses! I walked..... the chevy dealer I orginally planned to use had a markup and no military discount due to supply and demand. I shopped around the local area to no avail, then I found a dealer in NC who not only took my order over the phone, but gave her to me at MSRP AND I got the military discount! Had my blue demon for almost year and I am QUITE happy I didnt get the challenger! Climbing to that 370 horsepower quickly just with a few mods!

I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE A GREAT COMMERCIAL
Bad Azz- you are right, that would be an awesome TV commercial.

I am going to ask Mike if the referral is worth at least an oil change. I would not ask for any commission, that's the way the guy makes a living. But I don't think an oil change would be out of line. Especially since they charged me $110 for my first oil change. That Mobil 1 stuff is expensive. I only have a little over 6K miles and I just had the 2nd oil change at 5,800 miles. I may not be due for another one for 2 years.

You made the sale. You showed them the car and answered questions. It was all you. That earns you something. At my dealership you get a check for $50 if you refer someone and they buy.

I took my Camaro to the local Dodge dealership a wile back when I was looking for a new van.
The salesrep I was looking for was not there, so another guy asked if I needed some help.
We got talking about my camaro, which is supercharged with around 630hp.
I asked about the challenger, and told me that you could buy a chip to add to it for a few hundred dollars that would give the challenger over 700hp.
I knew he was full of it, but I just went along with him and looked impressed.
The competition really doesn't like getting beat.

Caps lock broke?

To your 'it's a Dodge' statement is just like saying 'it's a GM'. They didn't exactly have many quality vehicles and cut corners on the product for several years.

Nothing wrong with the Dodge HEMI engine in my book. Just saying.

I sold Chrysler for 7 years.. I was very successful, even though I was a GM guy...

I soon learned, to be respectful of every person, and always presumed, they had the means to buy.. When I lost a deal, it normally was not my fault, and I was always aware, that kindness, could bring that customer, back, for another vehicle, at another time..

When I bought my Camaro in Sept, the salesman, followed up, on my online inquiry, and offered me a test drive..I went to the dealership, for a test drive, (loved the car) and they looked my 2010 Mustang over, and gave me a price.. I went home, thought about it, and went back and offered a little less, and they split the difference, and I was SOLD..............000039

The true test of a Gentleman, is how He treats those, who can be of No Service to him..lol

Great stories! FYI the OP did say he was looking for a lease.

How is it that so many sales folks cant understand that they are going to drive customers away by denigrating their customers choices? I would have told the sales guy he could easily cost the dealership a Dodge Journey sale with his sarcastic comments.

I think a lot of it has to do with the type of people typically shopping for a car. People like those that read this site (well informed of their options who know what they want) are only a fraction of those out shopping. I have gone through three dealerships so far looking for a decent one and have yet to find one who did not try to pull something/pull one over on me.
