It doesn't always work like that.

The 33% was determined using a meter. Our windows are 70% MINIMUM. They can be lighter. In my case, the glass was substantially lighter, since 36% film (meters accurately at 36% on clear glass) metered at 33% on my car... for what it's worth.

I meant to meter the glass beforehand, but I forgot.

...Oh... I see what you're saying. The "+" as I wrote it I read as "and" (&)... sorry for the confusion. I know that percentages of transparency aren't additive.

The plus in my context was rationalized as you "add" film on top of the clear glass.

No tint for me, it's hard enough to see out of this car as it is. To each his/her own.

I now prefer no tint. Just looks cleaner and more pure. Our cars don't need help looking better, but I do think 4th gens definitely looked better with tint.

I like seeing at night time and not worrying about getting tickets. I got 8 tint tickets and 5 warnings in 8 years owning my 4th gen. I'm tired of watching out for cops and paying a $180 ticket.

I used to like the tint look, the privacy, and the sun-blocking effect....but now I sort of want people to see me in this car.

ya i know what you mean, its really a pain to watching for cops and rolling your windows down... for me once i had my first tints put on i was hooked... spend over 400$ in tickets in the last 1 and a half years... i hope i will grow out of this faze...

Tint makes any car look better doesn't matter if it's a 4th gen, 5th gen, or pinto.

Having not tint just doesn't look right

Tint always makes the car look cleaner. Gives it a more aggressive look I feel personally. I went with 5%, which here in NY is illegal, but I don't really get hassled for it too often because the cops love my car =)

I used to get 5% all the way around. It helped a lot when my car is sitting in the parking lot while i'm at work, but it's hard as heck to see out the back. Especially backing out of parking spots/garage. 15% is perfect, imo. Most of the time, cops wont pull you over just for tint. They usually pull over for speeding or other moving violations and nail you for tint. Unless he's just a jerk, or you live in Cali. lol I've had 15% on all my cars for the last 5 years. I've had 0 problems with cops. i come up to a lot at lights with my windows still up, and still no problems.

Thanks for the advice! Going to talk to a Crystalline dealer tomorrow! I am going to get exactly what you recommended CR70 on windshield and CR40 all around.
