I would not want $50.00 a week for life... I would want full payment. Tell her parents to sell their house if they want to pay IMMEDIATELY for it, otherwise it gets passed to the authorities. I would want a replacement immediately, just like the insurance company could offer.

They stole your car... they need to face the consequences.

Dude, Where in iraq are you. PM me if youre in the IZ. Secondly, majority rules, you got to get it reported and then clear things up later. i agree that you wont see any of this money if you allow them to try to pay it off. They will drag their feet. Been in this situation before when a friend totaled my civic a few years back and guess what, havent paid yet.

Good on you for making the right decision! Maybe some jail time will do her some good. And as others have said, thank you for your service!

in New York you have to turn ur plates in before liability insurance can be dropped, were plates on the car? If not pretty clear it was stolen. Insurance must cover the car regardless of who was driving if ur collision coverage was intact. Sue the sister, brother and boyfriend .Was there a lien holder, they will sue as well

There are three things my old Man taught Me before he left this shitty old world.

He said "Son, never lend another man your gun, your Women or your car".

I practice it like it's the gospel!!

Thank God no one got killed (!), Your friend, now x-friend & family should of done the right thing and turned her in or gave you the money, these people seem to not care what she did to you, that is a shame, these people are bad apples.
Thank you for your service for us, Thx much !
Talk to the guy your making payment to for modding your old Camaro, maybe once you get back you can get your new one and have him do it to your new Camaro ?

That sucks so bad. But seriously man don't accept any form of "pay you back" unless its cash money up front. Anything else isn't going to happen like everyone else said. Honestly you need to do whatever you have to do to make sure your covered in the end. There is absolutely no reason why you should lose ANY money on this.

Report the car stolen. Get a stolen car report.

Oh, by the way, I'm an insurance agent.
Tallboy is right!

That is an awful situation for you to have to deal with. My sympathy to you. But, IMO, you deserve to get your financial compensation for loss since the car appears to be an obvious total loss. Although it is understandable that there is compassion for the person at fault, you should not be the one to suffer or have to pay for their bad choices or bad luck.

Glad to hear how this worked out.

Did the right thing reporting it stolen. Insurance did right by zeroing out the loan and will get you a new car!

Not even going for that. I called the officer about 8am this morning and filed a formal report, by about 9am the girl because she was driving was in cuffs, and by 9:20 my Gmail inbox was 349 and emails richer, one from her father saying that I was a "soulless bastard" and 348 more from every offshore fly by night Viagra selling website you could think of, wonder who put my email on the mailing list. I don't know how familiar any of you are with former military only banking and insurance company USAA, but as of just before I came back to write this post USAA my loan and insurance company informed me that I now have a 0 balance on my loan and if when I when I get home I want another Camaro It would be as simple as picking a color. Pending then mailing me a bunch of paperwork to sign of course.
We also have USAA and worked with them on a few claims. They are awesome to deal with. 0 BS and takes care of you right away
