It's a LK sign, and if your not a banger it would mean nothing ... And vato does mean homie (nothing new) and has nothing to do with a banger unless you are conversing with or making a reference to. Another common use would be calling a friend or family member you have respect for would be El Vato or Vato for short ...

And I got shot at in my '85 Camaro Berlinetta once...thankfully the guy was a horrible shot and only hit the road as I peeled away from the scene...it was the closest thing to a Vanilla Ice moment I have ever had. My passengers made a remark to some obvious drug dealers in Pittsburgh...next thing I know -Bang! Bang! Bang!...I did not stop for anything until I was MILES away.

well i don't have a camaro. but I had someone do something un mustang like or unmuscle car like.

I had my co workers brother in the car and he is a loud mouth and started yelling at girls outside the window. you don't yell at the girls. the car does that on its own
