Total difference after 8% sales tax $2549.

I'm sticking to my guns. I think a weekend of driving is worth $2,000+

Don't want to burst your bubble but you can't use a number with destination and compare it to one without it...

2SS: 33430 list, 31591.35 invoice -> $1838.65 -$500= $1338.65 savings plus the tax savings on that of $107.09 = $1445.74

plus you save 17% on extras:
RS pkg with 2SS $1200-> $996 ($204 savings) +8% on the $204= $204 + $16.32 = $220.32

savings on 2SS with RS pkg= $1445.74 + $220.32= $1666.06

$1666.06 is the savings on a 2SS/RS at $500 over invoice in an 8% tax area. Don't know about you guys, but as I said earlier, $1500 (ok, I was close) is $1500.

Still nothing to sneeze at or snub your nose at.

Point here is - be sure you feel WARM, FUZZY, and COMFORTABLE with the dealer you choose. And yes, there is mis-information out there...there always has been - and we didn't need someone new to show up here and tell us that - we've known it all along!
As of right now, my dealer is some guy in Cedarburg for that reason. You may know him.

My order may be sooner than I originally planned.

I am going strictly by the original number that was on GMLaunch for the local dealerships. I saw the number, 31, myself via a friend... I understand numbers were removed from GMLaunch quite some time ago now and that the District Sales Manager is in charge of them. I can neither confirm nor deny that any dealer's numbers have changed since day one but, like I said, I can confirm that on day one Paddock had 63 and Basil had 31 because I saw the numbers myself. I can't tell anyone here that Mac1 is wrong when he says 60 because I didn't ask the question. But I will.
I sent Steve an email this morning asking the simple question and he confirmed to me this morning that his PGN is indeed 31.

In addition, he confirmed that the following are his current orders:
(1) 2SS- mine
(2) 1SS including my friend's
(2) V6 (didn't break down the trim level)

As I said earlier, I have in writing the cost and that I will get the 1st 2SS available to him if they break it down by trim level. Otherwise, I will get the 2nd V8 as there was a 1SS in line before me.

A bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush.

Sticking with the current order for MSRP and thankful for it!

Please don't anyone take this thread the wrong way. I too am/was very apprehensive about "jumping ship" at this point in the game. I was at Basil for over an hour getting that warm fuzzy feeling. I consider myself a rather good judge of character and in the end had no problems signing with Basil. Of course it did help that I was speaking with the sales manager and not a salesman (no disrespect intended to those of you who are). I will also say though it is not my first interaction with them. I bought our company 2500HD Silverado from them a few years ago and my father in law just bought a new Impala from them last month as well as the 02 Impala I bought from him as a winter car.

This thread was designed just as much for those who haven't placed an order yet while they waited for someone to accept GMS/GSU. I don't blame anyone who decides to stay where they are- there is a lot to be said for that. All that really happened is I came across what I consider to be one hell of a deal and did my best to help those here who were looking for the same.

I think all pre-orders should be sold at GMS/GSU prices. Afterall we are the ones who are so dedicated...most of us have already plunked down $1000 and all the feedback and support we've shown has definitely aided GM in the decision making process. We've been waiting 4 years guys...it's the least you can do!

I think this is GREAT information, don't get me wrong. Especially for those that are getting ready to order before March 16th to secure their pre-order or those who are in a less than desireable pre-order situation and are looking for alternatives.

MORE POWER TO YA!!

I'm bumping this post as I do not want it overlooked. I know it's asking for a lot, but I think it's a valid point.

^ ...but I doubt that, even if they wanted to, GM could force the dealers to do it. The only way then would be for GM to adjust the MSRP to GMS/GSU levels.

It would be nice, but GM is in the business of making money first. They may appreciate our support but I don't think they owe us anything for that support.

Update

Well folks, I have a new confirmation number in hand. Isn't as cool as my really early NDKF.. but all is good. Steve says to give you all a very warm thank you for your responses thus far. "I just want to sell cars" he says...

So do you or someone in your family work for GM? How are you eligible for this discount?

My brother in law's, wife's, father (ok, think it through) is a GM retiree and can get me friends and family (generally equivalent to supplier). To make a long story short, I will get the better of the two discounts- supplier (F&F) or $500 over invoice when the car arrives. Basil will give ANYONE $500 over invoice- no requirements.

They do have airlines that fly to little old Buffalo...in your case for a whole $174... As I said to others, I'm sure you'd hate every minute of having to drive the car back home...
