It is distracting and dangerous. And imagine seeing a red headlight coming at you. You might be confused if they were coming or going. Not safe, just like I don't think traveling triple digits on public roads is safe. Leave that kind of fun and show for off-public roads.
Ok, for one, about the low/high beams, I have an 08 crew cab silverado that is one of my daily drivers and I get flashed all the time because people think my lights are to bright(they are stock) so I just turn my high beams on and leave them on untill I pass them. Its kinda like parents say to kids, "If you want to cry, I will give you something to cry about.". And as far as the red halos, when the headlights and the halos are on you cant even tell that the halos are on. So if your not smart enough to tell if a car is coming or going and if you are that easilly distracted while driving then you might want to consider public transportation.

I think some people have some things confused. Halo lights are just accent lights. They are NOT intended to be used for, nor are they bright enough to be used as a primary source of lighting. Things like halo lights, LEDs, ambiant lighting, ect... have been used for years by the aftermarket. Odd thing is, everybody with Camaros always considered things like halos "rice". Now that the RS package comes with them, everybody wants them.

Its not impersonating unless its flashing. And you also have to have both red and blue.

Left to police's discretion...cops can say whatever they want...they can say that you were flickin them on and off to create a strobe effect. But i do believe that the combo of red and blue would be the no-no...and seeing how the halo rings on the camaro black weren't that bright...i dont think a cop would pull you. Now where i live...cops here are pretty corrupt...in fact our former county sheriff was just brought up on murder charges...(and i know the family that was effected by this 10 years ago)...but anyways...certain laws are put in place to keep people safe...while others and most are fueled by a revenue motive...they sometimes also keep accidents to a minimum...

BUT...

Atleast you guys dont live in Temecula, CA...ducks have right of way lol

Used to live there...i do miss it...beside that silly law

freind of mine was arrested in southlake, TX for impersonating a police officer. He had a bright red light inside of the car. Luckily he was still a minor and was let go with nothing else than a week in the jail.

True, for the most part it is up to the the cops discretion. Most of the time cops arent going to pull you over for stupid stuff like that. So I find it hard to belive that your friend was pulled over and arrested just for some red lights inside the car. But then again, cops lie, so who knows... Either way, the red halos can hardly be seen when the headlights are on, if at all. As long as you use common sense(wich isnt very common these days) then you should be ok.

I highly doubt that red halo's can even qualify as a distraction, especially since the only time they will really be noticed is when parked or just light enough where u dont need to put ur headlights on, even then it's jst not bright enough to confise anyone.. But tell u what, I would love to see a camaro cop car, I know it being a two door isnt ideal but i love the cop theme on sports cars.. we have a few Charger cop cars around.. and then there is the D.A.R.E Corvettes i used to love in elementry school.. dont see them any.

Depends on where you're at. Around here they are blue and amber not blue and red.

Your headlights are probably aimed incorrectly then. I've seen plenty of stock Silverados and the headlights aren't a problem. You'd never think they were on high unless the aim was off or there was a huge load in the back. The lights may be stock, but is the ride height? If that isn't stock and the lights aren't re-aimed, then they will look too bright. If the ride height is stock, then maybe the lights were inadvertently tweaked.

This part I'm generally in agreement on. I said they would look cool if only used off-road. You're saying on road, with the headlights on, you can't see the halos. So essentially, it is the same thing. My concern is I picture some people driving around at night with just their red halos on because they think it looks cool, which is obviously unsafe. It is just like the people who put lambo doors on their cars and keep them open just so everyone can see they have lambo doors. Stupid and unsafe.

Ride hight on my 08 Silverado isnt stock(lowerd 4 in the front and 7 in the back), nothin I drive is stock hight. Yeah, they probably are aimed to high but they are still not any brighter than stock HIDs on some cars. And anybody that drives around with just the halos on at night deserves to be pulled over and givin a ticket just for being stupid. Now the lambo doors, those things ARE stupid. But some people think that just because it bolts on and cost money that it looks good. I saw a guy in a Crown Vic(yes, a crown vic) with lambo doors and he didnt see the speed bump and when he went over it, BAM! the strut broke and the door ended up on the ground. LOL But at least the pop-trunk wasnt hurt!

Just halos at near-dusk would be fun for 20 minutes each day lol.

And I hate trucks and SUVs that come up on my a$$ with incorrectly aimed lights. They should point down, not right into someone's rearview mirror!

Just want to add some information concerning the original topic.

In California, you may have any color except red DIFFUSED lighting on the front and sides, and only red to the rear.

This is for diffused lighting, which means that the bulbs cannot be seen. I dont know whether or not the halo's would be classified as diffused, you would have to look to see where the bulbs are.

This includes while driving. I can post the exact law if someone wants, just too lazy to look for it right now.

id figure the headlights would drown out the red halos but i was told by a GM guy that its easy to get the red and its a matter of swapping of wires or somethin
