And those that think that Do Not Know how big of a mistake that would have been. It was around Oct 2005 or Nov 2005, I saw that the New Camaro was going to be revealed Early 2006.

Before that news, with NO Comfirmation that the Camaro was coming back. I was about two weeks or less from doing one of the Hardest Thing in my Life walking into a Ford Dealships and Seriously looking into get a Stang :(. The SS Monte was just toooooo dull:(.

I would be kicking my own butt, right now and looking for a buyer for the Stang.

MAN!!! That was a close one

did anyone notice that dodge ran employee pricing commercials for ALL vehicles during the superbowl and a challenger was in the commercial???? i was hoping to see a camaro commercial or at least get a glimpse of it in the transformers commercial. i just checked the dodge website and challenger srt8's ARE included!!!! i am waiting patiently for the camaro, but people on the fence might just visit their local dodge dealer.

There are those that don't think we should have ever shown the car until the first one came off the line.

There are those who think we should have been advertising the car 6 months ago.

There are those who think we should drop everything and concentrate only on building Camaros.

There are those who believe it should have been a Firebird.

There are those who hope GM (and Ford and Chrysler) go chapter 7......

There are those that think we should do commercials that do nothing but burnouts.......

..............the good news? It's 'passion' -- perhaps - that causes people to have these opinions.

As to 'burnouts' in National Commercials --

...and some of you aren't gonna like this.........

..............but that is the WORST thing we could do for the longetivity of this Car......

..............because you then limit it as to who will buy it.......it will only be seen as a "muscle" car --

Besides -- doing burnouts is only preaching to the choir.........

We must be very precise on HOW this car is advertised -- esp. on TV.

That said - you will see burnouts every weekend at drag strips.......and on the internet................
Agreed. People will know the Camaro is quite capable of having fun, there's no need to risk the ire of politicians to explain it.

I was considering a BMW before it was official about the new Camaro and the design being true to concept form. Instead, I let her buy what she wanted to wait for the Camaro. The Camaro is the only thing that could have brought me to buying my own personal car. Had we bought the Beamer, we wouldn't be buying for a long time. I didn't like the 4th Gen.

This makes me sad....I'm pretty sure that if others at GM think the same way, we'll see a Berlinetta version before we see a Z/28.

But the pricing is similar! Another reason that THIS Camaro will do well for the General.

Why should they advertise now? The people who buy the first of anything are car nuts (like people on this forum) who know more than the salesmen. They don't need advertising to buy a car.

For the general public, they will react when the cars are all over the Chevy dealers' lots. If I just learned about the Camaro from a TV ad today and stopped by my local Chevy dealer, I would expect to see one, not to be told that "we don't know when we can get you one, but you can order it now!" That would pi$$ off most folks IMO.

And why would that be? You are confusing what type of commercials you would like to see with the realities of how the new Camaro needs to be advertised and the capabilities and realities of what Chevy is capable of producing. If Chevy (and the people behind the Camaro program) was not interested in performance, do you really think they would still build a 426HP SS? You are missing the point, the advertising needs to be directed at the "quantity" buyers, if the V6 Camaro is not sold in large numbers then the entire future of the Camaro comes into question. No, we don't need a bunch of drifting and burnout commercials clogging up the mainstream media.

Think of it this way, will anyone ever be surprised or impressed seeing an SS Camaro doing a burnout? No, its expected that an SS will do an burnout. And any car that does that is a gas guzzling enviro terror. It will appeal to the people who are already interested in buying an SS and not many others. But there will be people surprised that a 300 hp V6 will offer 27 mpg for $23k.

GM is not ready to fire up an all out marketing campaign. Everything is still in the introduction stage (product cycle). Look what happen to the PT Cruiser when it first came out. Chrysler had to "Demarket the car." There were long waiting lists and the consumer got tired of waiting. In the end, unhappy customers. GM is doing it the right way. Let's all buy stock and support GM.
