They have to build them for a few more years just to cover project costs. New fuel economy rules really will apply to the next product generations. so after Gen 5 is over, then it really is up in the air.

Those are pilot builds, and they have to have VINS to track the build of each through the assembly process. That identifies all the sub level systems, modules and parts that are captured via bar code. This helps MFG engineers understand how each vehicle builds out with each option and how efficient sequencing and assembly is.
These are most likely saleable but will not be sold. GM’s commitment to quality ensures that building salable cars shows compliant manufacturing process capability and that they are close to ready. There is software that is used to conduct a computer generated virtual build to maximize the manufacturing process. This is a great analytical tool to perform a theoretical process layout. Off the line post build diagnostic and durability evaluation . . . the secret garage.

And just remember that i have personally touched every single car so far to make sure the paint is flawless! Hope you guys enjoy when you get delivery, and a card of thanks for all my tireless work to make you happy wouldent hurt
lolSeems to be more and more Camaros coming down the pipeline every week. Started off with about 5 a day, up to around 15 since we got back. Of course i see more then that a day. We usually paint more then put them in storage up top and relase what is needed for the day. Not hundreds mind you like we did in the truck plant ramp up. |
