You can grab a base gt500 for around 48ish, so i would guess the Zl will be in that range somewhere. But keep in mind that a gt500 goes up to near 58k when you check the option boxes...
When you consider what you get with the ZL, and the fact that it's got warranty, I think that 47k would be a deal. |

The price difference between a Corvette and a ZR1 corvette is double. A ZR1 "starts" at $111k and is at my dealer for $125k. Does any dealer sell a base model of anything?? I wouldn't know because I've never asked...get the point?

The only options for the GT500:
SVT: 3495 Glass Roof: 1995 Electronics: 2370 Illuminated door Sills: 207 Max Prive: 55,537 The question is, will GM add the SVT Package to the GT 500 for a one-to-one comparison? If so, we would be looking at $52,140 Last edited by BoostedX2; 02-11-2011 at 09:06 AM. Reason: Typo |

I'm speculating that GM didn't give out the price on the ZL1 because they want to put out the "feelers". They know how much they need to sell the car for, so i'm suspicious as to why they would not disclose this figure.
My fear is, that after GM reads everything on this forum about how the ZL1 is a bargin at $50,000 to $65,000 and how people will be standing in line to pay this price, GM will be licking their chops... ....as will the dealers. Just because the ZL1 was made to compete with the GT500 doesn't mean it has to cost less. If the overwhelming demand is there, the opportunity to maximize profit is also there. I hope I'm wrong for everyone looking to purchase this new car. But the way corporate greed has been lately, I don't know. M |

First- GM hasn't announced the price. MT is talking out their ass. FACT. Their guess is as good as anyone else's at this point.
Psychologically speaking, and historically typical of GM, they tend to price the Camaro a tad higher than the Mustang anyway. But also, unless they absolutely have to, if they start the price with a 4, such as 48,900 or something like that, the idea of getting a car like this in the 40s would be much more palatable to the mind than 50,100 for instance. GM marketing knows this, and much more as they have all the beans to know exactly what one of these animals cost to build. And I'm not going to worry about dealer markup. Since these will be flow-through models, you SHOULD be able to get one for MSRP or below by the end of 2012 anyway. I'm guessing. But you shouldn't pay more than MSRP regardless.

Too rich for me. I'm too far into the SS I have with mods. I like the looks of my SS better anyway... except for the rear diffuser. I really like the diffuser on the ZL1.

Agreed and just for the mod comparision for a SS modded to compare to ZL1 with very conservative pricing for parts & labor: Supercharger say at cost $5500 Decent Suspenssion sytsem $2000 Performance Exhaust $900 * Installation $2500 Total = 10900 And a more reaslistic number for the above with installation would be more like $15,000 The price on your face when you get the same package in the new ZL1 with a full GM warranty .....................PRICELESS

Definitely in for the ZL1, not sure on the suede, will have to see in person to decide.
Was holding out on th 2SS until this car came out (whatever it was gonna be), I think GM did a great job from the view and description. Looking forward to the continued test / eval / development through the summer as they said. I'll take mine in black, thank you!

I'd be amazed if this car came in under 50K. The GT500 barely does, and it doesn't have mag shocks, 20" forged wheels or 2 piece 6 piston brakes. I'd also be surprised if they avoid a gas guzzler tax.
I think mid 50's is more realistic. |

The GT500 does have 19" forged wheels and an all forged, hand built motor..that is a potential offset, as the LSA and magnetic shocks development cost has already been paid for by the CTS-V and corvette...
