What the?? It is a little early for April Fools. This sounds like it was taken right from the GM corporate response to the YEARS of complaints about the Corvette seats. When uncovered, it seems the underlying construction was found to be lacking. The foam is quite thin and under-protected from frame and steel wire pieces. Probably, we have similar issues with the Camaro seats.

Same story for years with Corvettes- many owners have had seat covers replaced under warranty, some have re-worked the foam themselves or even had very good dealers do so, and many others have been told sorry, no can do by the less stellar dealers.

I am positive they replace the leather, because every show I go to every camaro with leather seats are always stretched out

Not April Fools - on the C5 we actually looked at putting vinyl UNDER the leather - -we tried more padding - we tried less padding - we tried (as I mentioned above) putting vinyl in place of the leather (....we did it on a couple of cars - none that went to the public...) --

.........and still the same problem.

I took my car to the dealer the other day to have a couple of items looked at. One of them was the stretching leather seats. The underwriter was very quick to say we can't fix that.

Dealer: We have tried new covers before and they will fit worse...leather stretches...new seat covers will have wrinkles in them from packaging…the dealer can't install them as good as from the factory...blah blah blah.

Me: soooo too bad for the customer? If this was your car would it be acceptable to you?

Dealer: let’s talk to the service manager.

The service manager was a little bit more responsive and suggested they take it to a local upholstery shop and see what they do. I told them that I would prefer an "official repair" from GM instead of a "let's try this" form the local upholstery shop. I informed them about:

2010 Chevrolet Camaro | Camaro (VIN F) Service Manual | Preliminary Information | Document ID: 2382270
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#PIE0039: EI09313 - Engineering Information - Seat Material Warped, Wrinkled, Wavy, Bunching or Damaged - (Jan 13, 2010)

Subject: EI09313 - Engineering Information - Seat Material Warped, Wrinkled, Wavy, Bunching or Damaged

Models: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

They softened their stance and agreed to look into this and see what they could do. Later that day, they said that this document was an isolated case of one vehicle and my vehicle did not fall in the vin range. Plus, it is now closed anyway. They filed a “claim” and I have a case number and the engineer that they spoke with.

Me: So where do we go from here?

Dealer: GM is just gathering information at this stage. Apparently it is only on two Camaro's that have this issue. The first one in the document and yours. We will just have to wait and see.

My seats are nowhere near as bad as some that I have seen on this forum. But the one question that I have is has anyone actually had their seats and or covers replaced from GM due to wrinkled/stretched leather?

Has anyone ever looked at the front right lower side of the drivers seat. Well it doesent cover the seat frame at all by the console. Dealer says it is normal I say no. My seat was coming apart because the plastic strips would not hold the seat cover down. They fixed it with hog rings.
