Doesn't eat anything as long as it's sealed (no air leaking in or out).
Simple as that.

OK, I've learned something today. I thought up to now there was something "unusual" about Dex-Cool, in that was more artifical or synthetic - and you should not mix it with water.

I did not realize you can (and should) mix it with water just like the good old green.

Just went and looked in my 10 year old owner's manual. "Water and Dex-Cool". Duh.

Next time I top it off, I guess I should just add water!

Guys, I'll leave it to you after this post. If it becomes not "sealed" someday down the road, even if you do not notice it.........................

Lots of radiators purchased and other issues due to orange over the years.

It is like telling a kid not to do something. I beat my head against the wall also.

In the short term, you are fine. Getting a chevy mechanic to tell you it sucks, not a chance. They work for chevy.

Guess what? Mobil 1 is the best oil for your car also.

There is a reason that GM had to pay repair bills for vehicles using Dex Cool due to a class action lawsuit. I received my letter and turned in two receipts on a 98 Malibu that went through 2 intake gaskets. Car was very well maintained to say the least.

Just sayin....

I hate to stir the pot more, but I just pulled my dipstick for the coolant and there was this white/yellowish paste on the dip stick itself. There was a good amount of it and my car only has 8k miles. It wipes of really easily though. Hmmmm....

When I change mine even while still under warranty, Dexcool will never be in my system again. I will personally do my own complete flush with distilled water and the only thing going back in is Zerex G-05 HOAT anti-freeze. I despise DeathCool even with it's newer formula.

"Approved for all types" anti-freeze can cause major problems if mixed with HOAT anti-freeze. Dodge Cummins and Fword PowerJoke owners know better than to mix coolants. I'll leave well enough alone and keep mum about the GM UndurableMax. DeathCool may be more forgiving (if that's even possible) mixed with "approved for all types" anti-freeze since it is OAT anti-freeze.

both of my 4th gens gummed up using dexcool. It never seemed to effect the engine though, and I figured it was normal since both cars were well maintained
