Launch control is for people who are not accustomed to launching a high powered car. Any idiot off the street can look fairly competent by putting the car in 'launch mode' and dump the clutch, leaving the car to take care of the rest while you point it in a straight line.

The goal is to get the most power to the wheels as quickly as possible with minimal spin. That's not always at 4,000rpm, FYI...

MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR NOISE IN THE REAR END AT 1500 MILES. WHEN THE FLUID WAS DRAINED, IT LOOKED LIKE METALIC PAINT. I HAVE HEARD OF THIS IN MANY CARS THAT WERE BUILT IN 2009. I THOUGHT THAT GM FIXED THE ISSUE. TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. IT IS NOT THE FIRST I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THAT GM FIXED UNDER WARRANTY............

Wow, sorry to hear your rear end broke. I will always be worried about this at the track. On the Challenger it's usually the half shafts that go. Might replace mine before I begin major mods to the engine...
