obviosly there are problems with the dealer/tech. if the repair was done properly it would have been undetectable and that is unfortunately not the case here.

i was trying to give you guys a little insight from the other side of the sevice departmet. they should have fixed it right the first time! but please dont get upset just because your car needs to be disasembled to fix somthing, most techs i know are good at what they do and take pride in their work. unfortunatley there are some who dont care or dont know.

i think gm needs to direct you to a good dealer. i really hope that they can make it right for you.

just remember for every person on here that posts about their dealer not being competant enough to fix their car right the first time there are hundreds more that are taken care of without incodent and are never posted.

I understand what you are saying but look at the OP's photos...dash all torn apart....there is NO WAY it is ever going to be as quiet as new again unless the tech spends the "extra" time to carefully reseal everything, snap every panel in place nice and tight, account for every snap and replace any panel that has even 1 single broken snap. No tech is going to donate the "extra time" to do that. Any knowledgeable car person knows, once you open up the dash of a modern car like the way the OP's car dash has been opened up, it is never going to be the same again. It may feel like it is good as new but only for short time before the rattles and creek develop. Much worse when the dash is opened up repeatedly. The snaps and seals loose their original tightness when repeatedly unsnapped/unsealed. I too would demand a new car or start the lemon law process if this happened to me.

My nightmare continues. For one, I'm still awaiting parts for the first two broken parts of the dash (center speaker cover & glove compartment tensioner). Now I noticed that the back part of the steering wheel cover is also falling apart, and the area around it is all lopsided. There's new creaking noises whenever I go over a bump, related to god knows what. And the radio continues to get condensation on the screen in the mornings.

I called my GM rep this morning and he kept saying that he was having trouble getting in touch with the dealership to see if they got the parts. I kept trying to explain to him that it's not the parts that I'm worried about, but the lack of service and terrible craftsmanship that went into my repair. Once again, he says all he can do is check on the status of my parts. What the heck kind of customer service is this? Every time I explained to him all the issues, he just kept repeating that he would check up on the parts. It's like he wasn't hearing or understanding any of what I was saying. I've been dealing with this guy since I started this thread, and so far he has done absolutely nothing for me, and refuses to do anything else.

Apparently this is GM's version of "Customer Service". I'm sick and tired of bringing my car in every week into service to order new parts, having to leave it in over night, just to find something else broken. This is ridiculous. Unless anyone else has any suggestions, looks like I'm going to have to speak to an attorney.

What makes some of you think that another dealer is better. They just might have the same old idiot techs there too. Its not the dealer, but the tech who puts their hands on it. That type of job sucks and maybe that tech just wasn't in the mood to take on a big job that pays him sqwat under warranty (GMs fault) to complete. I blame the tech and it should be deducted from his pay. Might teach him a lesson or better yet, find a new career in auto dismantaling where all you need is a hammer, vice grips and a torch!!!!
Maybe a GM engineer should go down and fix your issues? Removing windshields to repair anything to do in removing a dash is STUPID!!!

unradical, I'm sorry to hear about how your repair is going. I would like to have your case reviewed by one of my higher ups if I that is ok with you. If you could, please send me the case number again so I can forward this on. Thank you. I hope this helps.

Sooooooo, how is it going now? Its been about a month and we haven't read an update. I hope it is all good. Update ur thread so we can hopefully read where all is fixed correctly, your baby is back and running superbly, the service tech had his ass fired and GM has made you a happy camper. Looks to me like Mr. Morris is trying hard. [I had all these same issues with my new '82 Z28, took forever, dealer excuses, never ran 100% after, but I still ONLY go GM... sometimes shit just happens and you gotta roll with it. Hang in here!]

Been following this tread and hope 'unradical' can update us. I understand his frustration and think he has done his best to work with the dealer and GM.
Jeff Morris has posted twice and seems sincere to help.
I understand the frustration. Back in the late 1960 I had two bought new Thunderbirds (1963 & 1966). Each time the Birds when to a dealership to address a minor problem, cars were returned with new major problems. Loved those Birds but to this day never bought a Ford product but did consider a Mustang before I ordered my 2011 2LT May 2011 and received early Aug. 2010.
I traded my 1996, low milege, Sebring LXI for the Camaro. Ordered the Sebring new. Must say I had some issues with the Sebring that lasted more than 3 years, and many trips to Chrysler dealers in 3 states. Warrenty expired. But I finally got in touch with a Chrysler rep that cared. Finally, the current dealership worked on the auto for two weeks, I had a free loaner, issues fixed at no expense to me, and this was after warrenty expired but I had good documentation.
Cadillac Eldorado convertible, bought new in 1976, engine had to be replaced after 3 months but GM fixed without issues.
I currently have a 1998 Rivera, now a garage queen. When I helped my aunt buy her 4th white Riviera, she complained about a buzz sound. Six trips to the dealership in first five months. During this time, she test drove to other new Riviera's, no buzz. I jumped in and contacted a regional rep and spoke on the phone. End result, GM could never find the source of the buzz, but on month six GM replaced her Riviera with no charge to her. My aunt died years ago and left me her Riviera. No strange buzz noise from this beautiful auto.
I would be distressed if my Camaro was returned to fix issues as many times as 'unradical'.
If an agreement has been reached between 'unradical' and GM I understand that agreement could be private. When my aunts new 1998 Riviera was replaced the agreement was private as to "why". I negotiated this agreement, and still will not offer any further details in respect for my aunt.
Good luck to 'unradical'. My experience with GM if you get in touch with a caring factory rep., issues can be resolved.

Sorry for taking so long on posting an update. I'm in the military, so I was out of town for a while and was focused on other things in my life. Anyways, after the last big fix, the A/C was working and the dealer had agreed to replace all the pieces in the dash they had broken. There was still a few cosmetic issues I wasn't too happy with, but I was seriously frustrated and tired of dealing with the service dept, so I decided to just let it go and move on with my life. I decided to forego the lawyer route as well, because honestly, I don't want to spend more money on this, and everything was somewhat fine.

Then about a week ago, the air conditioner started blowing hot air again...

Seems I just can't win. I honestly think there is seriously no doubt about this being a lemon. I'm waiting on the dealership to call me back today to tell me if they figured out what the problem is, and I guess I'll go from there. I've also re-initiated talks with GM, but their stance is that I should take it back to the dealer I bought the car from, as the other dealerships are under no obligation to fix my car, since they're independent contractors. I don't understand how GM can take that stance on the subject, but it seems like that's the route they want to go. Unfortunately, the dealer I purchased my car from is very far from my current home of residence, so that's not necessarily an option I want to follow through with.

There are hundred's of thousands of these cars on the road...relatively speaking...they don't have an inordinate number of problems.

Well it turned out to be the condenser which was leaking this time. Easy fix and the AC is working. They also fixed the steering wheel which was messed up from the previous repairs.

Unfortunately, now I have to take my car into the shop because some jackass rear ended me at a traffic light. Good times... but at least my AC is working, for now.
