I'll be honest, I only have driven stick a few times. Hated it. Plus having an automatic with tap-shift is sweet

Because I drive 20 miles a day in traffic and dont feel like having my knee replaced just to say I have a manual transmission. Id rather pay the $1000 now then $10K later.

You rly mean to tell us you bought an auto because you don't want to have knee problems? Rly? I mean... c'mon man... At least be honest with us and tell us you just got it because u don't feel like having to shift gears; you like the car doing it for u.

Ive already had Knee surgery once. So yes. I have a 91 RS convertible with a Manual transmission that I cant drive more more then a half hour around town because of knee issues.

Its not about being lazy.

Driving stick as daily driver gets old especially when you are in a lot of traffic (from work to home I spend about an hour in traffic a day and my office is only about 5 miles away).

I have a V6 stick car and love it immensely. I drove an auto 6 and found it lacking in excitment. A V8 might be different. but that stick V6 is FUN.

What everyone said. 500,000 miles in sticks in L.A. traffic. I think I deserved a break today!

I drive about 75 miles per day on average. Usually three to five out of those days are going on this particular highway with a tunnel in the middle. Every single day (literally) there is an accident that slows traffic down to a crawl. People like to speed up and slow down, so traffic goes from ~10mph to ~45mph (hanging at each end before going faster or slower).

If I were to drive a manual, I would be either shifting an unbelievable amount that I would get carpal tunnel from a day or I could let it hang in one of the low gears and waste gas horribly.

Thus, an automatic with manual shift abilities = easy to drive on the daily and fun to drive when I want to

I got automatic cause i couldnt drive a stick shift any more in daily traffic just a few months ago it snowed here while i was a work when i had my cobalt SS and i was stuck in 10 hrs of stop and go traffic on the way home, when i got home my leg and foot and knee were all sore and i couldnt go to work the next day cause i do alot of standing walking at work. So i said never again and started looking for something almost as quick as the cobalt ss with an automatic and picked my Camaro.

This is what scares me about drivers.

I can understand people with knee problems.
I can kinda understand the wife issue...? No not really...
Personally for me driving in traffic is not that bad I do it all the time. To me its fun. In bad traffic it stays in 2nd gear the whole time anyway so its not like I'm shifting 275 times.
I didn't know how to drive stick before I got this car, but I just felt I was doing something wrong buying this thing with auto. I guess as a younger guy with good knees and no wife (only a girlfriend for 8 yrs) I wanted it more for fun than anything. I have no regrets. My last cars were auto and I wished they were manual. I guess I was just meant to have manual.

Why I got an auto: The only new red 2ss/rs in all of Texas was an A6.

Why I'm glad I got an auto: Mod for mod still faster than the M6 even if you use your fancy launch control and jedi shifting mastery.
