Sounds like a seal, but where that's the million $ question. We had a 96 'vette, if I remember correctly, had a leak at a shaft seal in the compressor. Was a pita to find, but the dealership finally found it. I too made them keep it until they found/fixed it. Hope it don't take too long for them the figure out where the freon is leaking from.

Just got mine done today. Less than 1 hour. 20min of that was waiting for a tech to get freed up. I would like to say that the air feels colder, but I'll have to wait until after the weekend to make final judgement, supposed to be 97 this weekend.

Another update. Got a call last night from GM. Told me dealership can't find leak. But the dealership wants to keep my car for at least a week and they're pretty sure in that time they can find it. A WEEK!! to find an AC leak? Doesn't seem right....or does it? I'm getting pissed because I want my baby back. Sick of driving the Cruze loaner. Nice car but no Balls!!

I know GM service is on these boards, does this seem right? Oh,and GM Customer care lady told me,"what am I getting upset about? You have a loaner" Well I answered,"because I paid 33 Grand CASH for my car and want to drive it! And don't act like you're doing me a favor with the loaner, isn't that part of the warranty?" Never got an answer to that. She just went on to say she will contact dealership on Monday to see whats up. Now I'm curious to what the "compensation" will be after all of this.

If the dealership can't find anything, why wouldn't GM send out an engineer to help find it? Seems like they are wasting time and dragging their feet.....

Out4it, I'm glad to see you've got a case with us already. I apologize about the wait but I don't have any sort of time frame as to these kinds of repairs. It may take a little bit longer with how complicated the AC system can be. I do understand your frustration with your loaner vehicle. Also that is not how we normally treat our customers. Hopefully they get you all squared away without having to keep the vehicle for a week. I would keep your agent as up to date as you possibly can.

Took mine in yesterday for the rub marks, and they told me about the recall.

Had the recall done on my vert and had some freaky things happening since. I plugged in my Iphone usb and the car electronics seemed liked they browned out for a second. I then notice that the DIC was now in German ??? It stayed this way until I shut the car off the turned it back on ?? Seems like the DIC now reacts slow to the menu button ?? I mentioned it to the dealer an they were going to log it and report it to GM ?

Hi I'm hoping someone there can help me. The air con on my new Camaro has stopped working completely and I'm in Spain. And its hot. The firm that supplied the car is in England. They told me no one else in Europe can reprogramme the BCM as only they have the equipment and I will have to take it to them. 1500 miles away. So I need to know if my car has the problem the recall went out about, or is it something else completely? And is there any firm in Europe, Spain or France preferred, that can fix it? As my car was built specifically for export it might not show on your usual system? VIN is 2G1FK1EJ8B9163573 Thanks for any help.

First off the is not a RECALL. If it was a RECALL you would be sent a card in the mail notifing you.

This is a TSB. Technical Service Bulletin. These inform techs that a problem may exist and here is the steps to check for and fix the problem.

As far as I know the Camaro has only had 1 recall and that was in early 2010 models where the battery cable could short and cut all power to the car. Humm think about that happening driving down the road. That is life threatening.

Jeff Morris,

I took mine in because it wasn't blowing as cold as I think it should. They checked it, didn't do the recall as far as I know, only stated it was 1/4 ounce low on freon, added some die and said it was blowing 42 degree on recipricating air. I picked it up, granted it was 95 and humid, but the air coming out didn't feel nowhere near 42 degrees so I picked up a vent thermometer and checked the temp all the way home 20 miles of interstate on reciprocate and the coldest I could get the air to blow was 53 degrees, take recip off and 62 degrees is it. I have to run my a/c on high recip all the time when temps are over 85 to 90 to keep it comfortable in this car. Does the TSB address my issue? I have still not received a recall notice in the mail. My VIN is 2G1FF1ED4B9134800, is it part of the recall?

Have you tried a dealer search on the Chevrolet Spain site?

Shu71, your VIN shows that your vehicle was involved but the repair order is closed. I would suggest speaking with them again or you could send me your name number and the number for your dealership and I could talk to them for you if you would like.

Thanks Jeff, So if I read what you said correctly the TSB was performed on my car? I have no problem with calling my dealer as they have always had a good service department. I am confused though as they put nothing about the TSB on my receipt and the service manager told me they found nothing wrong with the a/c etc. I'll call them and try to get to the bottom of it. Thank you for looking it up.

Has anyone else tested the a/c vent temps on yours under say 90 degree humid days? Are my readings of 60's for regular a/c and 50's for recirculating a/c normal?
