Easy fellas. The hot weather gets the blood boiling.

ccrognlie, like axis mentioned the tests were performed on the same day, on the same car, back-to-back, and were streamed live for everyone to view. It was about as scientific and transparent as this sort of thing could be. The big thing to take away from the test is that there is a clear group of performers and non-performers.

I watched the testing too and feel that Ted did everything above board.

My intake history is this. CAI>Vararam>Yellow-Jacket>Yellow-Jacket with ADM scoop>> back to Vararam.

Noting only high points as pertaining to me.

CAI - Outstanding build quality/materials, good customer service.
Yellow-Jacket - large filter with filter cone in the center for extra surface area, good customer service.
ADM scoop - imo really helps any of the box-behind the headlight cais, really helped the Halltech.
Vararam - Fun factor (throttle response of any percentage at any rpm), money back guarantee (yes they honored it on my first one), outstanding customer service.

Vararam has great customer service. They are also local (to me) which I felt was a great addition. I had a chance to talk with them at our Kemah Show last weekend. Stand up people that love their product and what they do. I've been nothing but happy with my Vararam.

We have lots of intakes out there on Camaros and feedback continues to be great in terms of performance, appearance, sound and ease of installation. Our intake performs great with or without a tune. Here is a dyno sheet from an otherwise stock LS3 car.

We have many options including dry or oil filter, red, yellow or black hoses and air box in any color. We offer the inlet elbow in black plastic, polished stainless steel or with a carbon fiber finish. Also, all orders come with a FREE t-shirt with our new logo!
Please drop us a pm if you have any questions. We will be happy to answer your questions.

Choices, Choices .... enough to make you nuts.

After driving myself crazy trying to decide on a CAI and a Catback for my otherwise stock L99. I went with the Cold Air Induction because it seems to routinely finish in the top few units in different test and I just plain like the way it looks. Plus I sort of buy into the insulated sealed box. Installed the unit quick style no headaches. Love the new growl under the hood.

Kooks 2 1/2" Street Sleaper Catback is in the box ready to install in the next few days. Hope the combo works out as well as I think it will.

Smile CAI REPLY

Guys we have seen this all before. I went nuts with the same thing wanting to buy the best but had a hard time getting a answer that I would be alright with with. So I bought Cold Air Induction unit and then got a New updated style Vararam unit, and tried that one. Here is what I found out and like I say it's just my findings no dyno just seat of the pants.
1. Both made a diffenence in SOTPD (seat of the pants dyno)
2. Both made a diffenence in the sound of the car over the stock one, and each had a different sound over each other.
3.They where easy to install, but the CAI was easier then the Vararam, not much but a little bit.
4. BOTH are made very well, with no missing parts and good looking.
5. BOTH also had Good Customer Service.
6. The CAI would make more Power if you add MORE MONEY to add a Air Scoop so that more cold air can enter the unit and in the process losing your washer bottle or install it in a different location from stock. The Vararam already gets the added cold air without losing anything and not adding any MORE MONEY. It is made that way.
7. Out of the two, I kept the VARARAM and am trying to sell the Cold Air Induction. I just made sure I got the most updated unit from Vararam. Who knows you may like the CAI instead. It's like who likes Chevy, who likes Fords.

I hope this helps one of my Camaro Brothers out there.
Just remember that ALL you have read is true and it is true based on my opinions and nobody else helping me with this post.

Vararam did not want testing and did not give approval for an outside unit to be tested. We won't go against any manufacturers.

Makes you wonder why they did not want someone testing their unit.

Go with CAI, Inc.

As long as you pick one you that appeals to you and stick with it, you'll never know the difference and can assume it's the best. That's what I would do.

Why give any company the ability to lay an opinion on your product that could detrimentally effect it's reputation on the market. Sure there's the chance it would be shown for what it could do, but then theres also the chance it could be hated on because it just isn't favored...not saying jRE would take sides...just saying.

This is a valid point. They are doing fine without being in that test. Looks like the V6 guys are getting theirs finally and seem quite pleased.

I agree with what your saying. If the kit flops it could hurt sales, but as a manufacturer I'd want to correct the problems to put out the best kit possible.

We sell all the kits, and there is not much markup in cold air kits, we don't have any bias towards any kit. There are a handful of kits that sell well.

We have dyno'd a couple VR cars and they have done good.

Not out to skew any results in anyway shape or form. Like everyone else we want to know what works that's all.
