I agree about the comments regarding joy riding to a certain extent, but most of us dealership employees can have the "pick of the litter" and drive anything off the lot at any time. Lets see i have already driven 3 ZR1'S. As bad as i want to drive a Camaro, I am always respectful of any customers request, and the majority of my customers understand 7 to 15 miles on the vehicle. Believe me i will have the opportunity many, many times in the future. The first ZR1 we sold had 3 miles on it at delivery. I personally drove the vehicle from the transport truck to our Master Technician (the only one i will let service a ZR1) and niether one of us wanted to take it for a drive. My feeling was, that vehicle could not be replaced if something tragic was to happen on that drive, wether our fault or someone else's, We installed the splitter, rocker panels, etc. and quite frankly i could not wait for the customer to pick the car up. I did not want to detail the vehicle, or remove any plastic etc. until i got the customers permission. We have certain employees that we allow to drive certain vehicles. We just want to get the car right for delivery. I hate when we are pressured at the time of delivery and are not allowed the time to do the job correctly, and then the new owner has an issue and is disappointed. I am just as impatient as everyone to get the car. My recommendation is to not only let your sales consultant know your expectations, but also notify the service manager, PDI manager as well. I am sure they would be more than happy to accomodate you in any reasonable way.

Haha really??? surely you are joking. So I suppose if I sold you a new car you would forgo the free filled gas tank you get because the gas station is a 1 mile round trip...

Oh yes and when was the last time you bought a car with 2 miles on it.

Please lets be realastic and act our age.

So.. I can ask them not to put the dealer emblem on it? And safely assume if I do ask, they won't let the youngest kid there go do a break stand in it?

My truck had 6 miles on it. I took it for a test drive so it had 9 at delivery.

Of course you can. It's your car. Tell them if they want to put the sticker on the car they need to pay you for advertising. And I would expect them to keep their employees in check and not do stupid things like a break stand in a brand new vehicle. Not only is that a risk while he's doing it but chances are they're the one that would be fixing the future issues that it could potentially cause.

having a contract to spray bedliners with all three of the major dealers here in town (ford, chevy, dodge) i drive a new truck every night and because of problems in the past with people saying i put miles on the truck i began keeping record of the vin and miles on the odometer. most of the brand new trucks with plastic and everything still in em have right about 7 miles or around there. never over 25 so i would conclude its the same with cars. when i get my camaro if its over 25 i would say someone took it for a joy ride. but either way ill still take it. its not worth the wait for another over a couple miles on the odometer.

If you took the dealer emblem off of the car and it ruined paint, then sorry, but that is your fault. It's pretty easy to take that off, I mean, really easy. Now if you just waited too long and now the paint around the emblem is faded, that's different, but still could have been avoided.
