I agree. Pictures do 4th gens no justice, especially the SS. Many lines and curves are hidden in photos. When you see one that is cleaned and polished in person you will see the difference. They are a very well balanced pony car.

I have to say my favorite gen in the looks department is the second gen. After all it was my first Camaro. I also really like IROC Convertibles, they are one of the few cars that I feel a drop top doesn’t take away any style.

3rd gen Irocs. 1st gen's obviously as well, but there's just something about those Irocs. They just scream "raw power" when you see them

Their looks do, but they sure didn't have "raw power"

I voted 4th gen because I liked them enough to own two of them (both styles, even).

However, I do like all of the generations, or at least parts of them.

1st: 67, 68 - Love the RS package, not so fond of the regular appearance package.
1st: 69 - Probably the best 1st gen all around, in my opinion. I never really understood why it only stuck around for a year or so.
2nd: 70 1/2-73 - These things are pretty sweet looking, despite seeming to me the biggest jump from generation to generation.
2nd: 74+ - These are my least favorite, though I've grown to like some and tolerate the rest.
3rd: These are pretty much all the same and I like them, although I must say that I prefer the styling of the 3rd gen Firebirds.
4th: 93-97 - I liked them because they seemed to me to be a natural progression from the 3rd gens.
4th: 98-02 - Initially I thought they looked weird, but over time I grew to love them. I just thought they looked sleek. I'll also note that I was a fan of the built in spoilers.

Fifth is the best thus far, in my opinion, though.

I'd break it out a little more.
For me it would be (in order from most favorite to least favorite):
- early 2nd gen (70-73)
- late 1st gen
- early 1st gen
- late 4th gen
- late 2nd gen
- early 4th gen
- 3rd gen

The First Gens are badass and i absolutely love them....

But I grew up around a 2nd Gen, My dad has an 81 z28....

And Ive always thought the 70 RS/Z28 was pure sex...

But the margin between my love for 1st and 2nd is so slim it took
me a few minutes to decide....

I guess any camaro, is a camaro I love.

2nd gen wins.

I'll have to side with the 4th Gen as that was my intro into the Camaro world. (Although I learned to drive a manual in my Dad's '69 Camaro) I'm a fan of the 1st Gen as all three years are great. I only like the first few 2nd Gen Camaros and only the later 3rd Gens.

Couldn't agree with you more. The 3rd gen had a shape that beats them all to my eyes. It was probably '88 or '89 when I first noticed them (I was about 11 yrs old) and fell in love. The day I got my '91 was one of the best days of my life! It STILL makes me smile every time I get in it! And today I measured my fuel economy at 19.3 mpg combined, at 200,000 miles. How can you beat that in an 18 yr old V8??

Oh, and I'm still on the stock clutch!
