I still have a call into my dealer, but here is the thread from the GM client assist people:

Jane G has joined this session!

You have been connected to Jane G. Your session ID for this chat session is 24050.

Jane G: Hi brian! My name is Jane. How can I help you today?

brian: Hello, Is there any confirmation on dates or pricing for the new ZL1 Camaro for Canadian clients?

Jane G: Hi Brian. Let me check and see if there are any recent announcements. Do you mind holding for a moment?

brian: GA

brian: My dealer has it on his "workbench" order but GM won't accept the order in the computer yet. In the US they are accepting orders as of last Saturday, but no joy for Canada.

Jane G: I am sorry for that Brian. I have just found that it looks like it's going to be a 2013 release, and we are just getting out the 2012 new vehicle information at this time.

Jane G: For your convenience Brian, here is a link to a great article on our web site: http://media.gm.ca/content/media/ca/en/gm/news.detail.html/content/Pages/news/ca/en/2011/Oct/1011_Camaro_ZL1

Jane G: We would suggest staying in touch with your dealership. They are always the first to receive new order information.

brian: You mean 2012 release? I can't see we have to wait until 2013 for ZL1 in Canada

Jane G: You should be able to order it, but again because there is no formal announcements yet, I wouldn't be able to guess on the availability of sales and spec information at this time. I want to ensure you have accurate information Brian.

Jane G: In the article, it is indicated that they are looking at late 2012 vehicle sales to start.

Jane G: Again, I am sorry the information is not yet available.

brian: K thanks for trying

Jane G: You're welcome. Thank you for visiting us at gm.ca! If you have another minute, please click the Exit button to complete our post-chat survey. We appreciate your feedback. Have a wonderful day!

Jane G: Thanks for your interest in our products Brian!

In defense of our brothers in Canada who actually build the ZL1's I can see the OP"s point..., they should have an equal share of the pie. Let the good times roll!

I remember when the New style Escalade was due out, as my Sales Manager said, "They sell more Escalades in California than they do in all of Canada", hence they'll sell to the largest market first.

I'll post what my Dealer Principal says soon as he give me an answer

Still nothing at my dealer. I guess its hurry up and wait. Thanks for the support Old School...It does help believe it or not..I just am too excited and don't want to miss out. I really think someone at GM needs to take a hard look at the inequalities in price and availability.

Oh, and by the way I contacted the customer service person as suggested above, and although they were very friendly, could not offer any assistance.

One thing I find particularly odd is that on this site there are members from Chevrolet USA who chime in from time to time to help us all with our questions and problems. Yet even though the Camaro plant is here in Canada, and there must be Canadian executives or US executives in Canada who can help shed light on this important subject, No one from that group chooses to post anything on this question.

The waiting wouldn't be as bad if it were a known commodity. If I knew I could order Nov 7 then at least I could content myself with that knowledge. The US customer has known for a month the dates that lay ahead for them in regard to securing their ZL1, while we in Canada are left in the dark? Why? Do no Canadian executives know what is going on? If so why are Canadian customers not as important as other customers? and what is the point of not informing us Canadians of ordering details? Are they hoping we won't buy any ZL1's?

Well well, and if there is no launch date scheduled for Canadians until the 2013 model year then we should have the new gt500 in the contenders corner by then. Decisions, decisions.

Dont forget The New Challenger too To tell you the truth, I was gonna buy a Challenger before I heard about the ZL1.I think the Challenger IMO is awsome looking. rumour has it the 2013 will be pushing 570 hp. I love my 2010 Charger. Not fussy on the looks of the new one though!

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy want a ZL1, but honestly this lack of info for Canadian consumers from GM Canada is only helping customers considering vehicles from manufacturers who keep their customers in the loop.

I think you'll find, when all is said 'n done, ZL1 will be the King of the Hill. It will, however, foster some efforts from others...competition does that, you know...

Your correct. Competition does yield cars like the Camaro and yes it may be top of the hill... today. That's great and all but if you can't buy one then it's meaningless and who knows who's standing there tomorrow ready to kick it back to the bottom of the pile with their latest and greatest performance beast.
