For some reason it looks like the data drops out of the system after they leave the Canadian railroads and cross on to the US railroads. (usually in Flowers, IN or Champaign, IL) This is why I can't find most of them. Most of the VIN's I found were in the high 1000's and 2000's. I will keep working on ways to track the shipments already in the US.

In the meantime, does anyone know how I could post the excel spreadsheet showing all the VIN's I have found so far? That way I could also keep updating it for everyone to check.
can you post up the vins you've found? i'm curious to see which ones if they're up in the higher end vins.

and you can post up the excel document if you can find somewhere to host it. there's a few of those out there, once you've uploaded it somewhere you can post up the link to the excel document.

That's the current spreadsheet. I'm going to look into integrating this somehow with the VIN database this evening.

Well, I made some more progress. I have found about 159 VIN’s so far. Remember probably only about half of the cars will ship by rail because of their destination. I confirmed that the shipments drop out of the system once they and given to the US railroads. It appears that the US railroads have tighter security policies and do not make the VIN number as visible as the Canadian railroads. I will continue to try to catch as many as possible when they are shipped out.

Remember if you can find out your railcar number I can trace it no matter where in the country it is.

I will try to provide daily spreadsheet updates to UCF.
