I can't imagine GM not being aware of this already... unless there hasn't been enough inquiry yet?.. I guess as people start to near that magical 36k number it'll show up!! I hope to see a TSB on it. My driverside seat heating element went out a while back and the dealer called me yesterday to bring in my car, but I forgot to ask him about it, but i will when i take it in. My car has 36,124 miles on it!?.. that i think is the worst part of it.. knowing i'm 124 miles over and they can certainly deny it.

we noticed it some time ago, but waited to see if it got worse, but it did. This dealership and service advisor have been great to me, from the start of the purchase to this point. I hope to get this feeling anytime that I go there. I did purchase the extended gm warranty but hope not to use it. ROn Tilley

I don't have this on my dash (yet) but I do have it on my horn housing. Take a look right under the "CAMARO", I'd bet most will see it there as well.

I got my car back from the dealership today, it is done perfectly, no rattles, squeeks or any other sounds, They had somewhat of a difficult time removing the radio face plate, and it had to be replaced, but the new one from the factory also had a chip in it so another is on order again. I am very happy, they cleaned and detailed the inside and outside, did not have to, but they did. Oil leak fixed as well. Our dealer is a small town dealer and puts the customer first, great job, Garvin Motors!

Just a quick note on the vehicle warrenty. My dealer has told me that the 36000 mile warrenty starts from the odometer reading of the vehicle at initial purchase. ,Example... If your car had 75 miles on the odometer when you bought it the warrent doesnt run out untill 36,075 miles. Not positive but that is what my crooked azz delearship has told me so its probly legit.

That is correct, my warranty paperwork states 36,031.

Ok... haven't been on here a few days... anyway, I talked to my service department and they are replacing the dash in both my cars.... *whew* but apparently this is a somewhat known issue with other models, and I dont recall right off my head, but i think he said the Tahoe, Malibu and Avalanche?... said they've all cracked right around the passenger airbag.

Just noticed yesterday same as someone else posted:
"Oh man so I was looking at my dash again today and the light hit just right, and I could see where the seam was worn more in the same area (as in the photos) than others. Meaning right in the middle of the left side. but no where else...".

I picked up my 2011 Camaro early Aug. 2010, so have had it 17 months and just less than 6,500 K (4,039 miles). At home I park in an underground garage, and after a little math found that my 2011 Camaro has only been on the outside, perhaps 1,100 hours mostly day time (Canada). This is very little exposure to extreme temp.s for a 17 month old car.

This dash issue is frustrating as on my car, with its little time outside of its garage, will most likely crack shortly after my 36 month warrenty expires. I have a 1998 Buick Riviera and dash pad is still perfect, looks showroom new. I traded a 1996 Chrysler Sebring LXI coupe for my Camaro, and at trade-in, dash pad was perfect, looked showroom new. Been driving since 1967, and this Camaro dash pad cracking issue reminds me of old school crap materials I experienced with my bought new 1976 Eldo convertible. But even with the top down Eldo (frequently exposted to sunlight in hot temp.'s) it took 8 years before the dash pad cracked.

Hope GM looks into this Camaro dash pad cracking issue where the airbag is located.

Yikes. And I thought they made the dash out of hard plastic because Camaro owners like to keep their cars forever?

If this happens to mine under warranty, I'll try to get it replaced with a 2012 dash even if it costs me some $$.

I was told there was over a page of parts that were different to switch to the new dash. I never asked for a cost, but it sounded like it would be very costly to switch.
