Ricers twice tonight, 2 mustangs and a benz. I was out on the main strip but just going speed limit in center lane. I had to stand my ground in one case though.

for me is the other way around when i drive my camaro nobody tries to race me but when i drive my RX7 usually someone in a mustang tries to race me until they hear the big turbo spooling. (my 79 Rx7 weight 2100 LBS and has more horsepower than my camaro SS)

Have you ever parked your car away from everyone else, and then return to your car and find a "hunk of shit rice burner" parked right next to you. What's up with that?

The other day I had a WRX accelerate next to me about 10 times to try to get me to race. It was ridiculous. I think after the third time I did not respond he would quit but he would keep sounding his turbo to me over and over.
Why didn't I respond? I had my wife and 3 year old with me. But all I wanted was to push my foot through the floor to shut him up.

nah, more likely they just aren't that bright. they're just little kids in most cases and don't know that much about cars. a lot of them think that big muffler really will make their car faster.

Yeah, I get this a LOT, very PO-able. But lately I'm starting to think it's because it seems like everyone is too close to my car

RE: OP's question. If "ricer" means Japanese (or all Asian) cars then I have to say that it does seem that way. Usually some punky looking kid who has a really crappy version of a Subaru or Mitsubishi with fender flares, 22" wheels, etc.

So far it doesn't seem the Euro and Asian car drivers don't want none. Its the fools in trucks and older American rides who try to race me. Like yesterday afternoon I had a 2000 Silverado with flowmasters on try to race and then a 98' Monte Carlo LS, really, really? The Monte Carlo just kept speeding past and then waiting for me then speeding past again. Silly guys, even after I reved it up they didn't know what they were messin' with. On the other hand people are always trying to get me to burn out. I see them in my mirrors turning their fingers but I'm not wasting tread on their behalf.

I think where I live its mostly the pick up trucks that think there all bad ass these days. There seem to be alot of them with the stupid a$$ 5 inch stacks coming up thru the beds and blowing there black diesel smoke in huge thick clouds. Which dont get me wrong sinse im a parts man from wayyyy back selling heavy duty diesel parts and truck equiptment I know the diesels can have alot of power, probly more than my SS does with the turbos and the kind of torque they can produce. But they still will never have the handling that my SS does and while they can tail gate me in the straights they can not stay with me long when we get into the curves. Altho I will say they try like hell to. I actually saw one go off the road behind me recently because he was just going way too fast for the handling that a truck jacked up a few inches with big ass tires on it rolling around under his butt. While I did chuckle a bit seeing it I still felt kinda bad and went back around to make sure he was ok. And he was , he just went off into a corn field and got the truck stuck in the mud up to the axles and probly had to be pulled out by a friend. The ricers dont really mess with me at all.

Diesel douches are prevalent here as well. "yeah my truck makes like 8000 foot pounds of torque." "nobody cares dude."

"ricer" is a derogatory term that came into being in the 60's and 70's. people who owned muscle cars called small 4 cylinder imports "ricers" to imply that they were so wimpy they didn't even burn gasoline but rather rice alcohol.

today I think it's pretty much used to describe your run of the mill compact car that the owner installed some bolt on's and mods or other crap to make it look like it's faster than it is. usually civics, neons, and stuff like that. mostly kids that watched the fast and furious too many times.
