If I could I would but my GM performance service center will not let you watch. At least I have never asked.........

If I could, I would be right in the middle of it at least for the projects I do not do myself.

Here's a tip: TIP!

If you find a tech who you liked at a dealer, make sure you ask for that tech in the future and have a case of beer (AMERICAN BEER) in the trunk.

[QUOTE=RallySS;4831983]It isn't that it makes them nervous, it just really pisses off the trustworthy ones. I don't know too many mechanics who like to be treated like zoo animals and hawked while they do their job, much like most any career for that matter. Imagine your boss hawking you all day and how much you detest it. I'm glad I quit working as a mechanic several years ago for this reason. Some do understand people who love their car, and don't mind being chatted up, just don't like being stared at. Just don't act suspicious and be friendly without being too over anxious and you should be fine.

He did, it was called orientation.

Did this last time I was there. After sitting for 45 mins, test driving a car for 15 minutes, and another hour of sitting I got up. Spent the last hour watching them do work on my car. Like a hawk. Good guys at Elkins, though.
Cheers.

Other people don't work on my car unless it's warranty related.

I have a friend that owned a typewriter repair shop back in the '70s. He had a sign over his counter:

Rates:
$25 hr

If you watch me:
$50 hr

If you help me:
$100 hr

Sorry guys, I'm just not that anal. Its a car......metal, plastic and rubber. But I do research where my car goes for any work. I have 2 dealers I trust wholeheartedly and 1 performance shop I trust. I throw em the keys and walk away.
