I think I'm going to buy a Lamborghini Aventador. If I sell my house, furniture, etc.. I think I could live a pretty nice life and live in a Lamborghini Aventador

Its so wonderful to spend 40k-45k on a brand new vehicle and then have to fight to have a 40k-45k vehicle

HEY NOW. I resemble that remark!!

Just need to be sure what they are doing since a total top replacement may be easier for them to do than just a canvas replacement.

Got in touch with him yesterday -- he said Canvas only; said the mechanics and wter management (he called it air management -- but I think he meant water) would be transferred.

Reiterated he'd call me next week when the part(s) come in.

diff question

So I've been thinking -- for those of you who have had their canvas replaced by the dealer AFTER they had done the recall with the mechanism.....how did the new top fare with the opening and closing? Were there any more marks or depressions?

I'd just like to know what I can expect so I can do something proactively, like tell them to watch out for this or that with the mechanism and the roof you know?

Also, I put the top down and then up yesterday and noticed quite a lot of wrinkles in the corners near the rear windows......can't wait for the new roof. Has this been an issue with those of you that had received a new canvas also?

Thanks alot !

Ross

Wrinkles by the back windows started right before my 5th bow broke. Not saying that this is going to happen but thats what happened to mine.
Once the 5th bow broke I basically had it and finally got a new top/mechanics/watermanagement from the production line installed. So far the car has been fine now.
Good luck with the replacement, I know that this has worked in a lot of cases.

Again this is only advice from someone who has lived through this process.
Good Luck, keep us up to date !
My dealer called me - in a week I'm getting new mechanics & roof, but they didn't mention anything about new water management system. I haven't had any water leaks, is a new water system something that comes with the new mechanics, etc?

No, but your car may have the larger bag based on yours being a 2012. The change was done awhile ago. You should be ok. I tried looking at mine to find a difference and can't find any marker or anything.

Update

Well the dealer called Wednesday and the roof canvas is in. He is going to make a call to the company who does it (also did the owner's car) and call me back. He said they'd get me a loaner and take care of it.

Fingers crossed that this is it!

Another update -- 5/21/12

As you know, I last spoke to the service manager on Wednesday 5/16. He said he was waiting to hear from the outside guy who does the roofs and he'd call me back to see when he can do my car.

I called him yesterday after giving him the weekend to hear, he said he was going to call me in a bit anyway -- said the outside guy has done a lot of roofs without issue but just as the dealer guy was thinking of calling me a woman called up with an issue.

He said he is waiting for her to come in to see the issue or as he called it "the perceived issue, if that's what it is". Then he said he was going to call me by the end of the day yesterday.

He didn't, but to be honest, every time I've left a message for him, every time, he's called me back within a respectable amount of time. So based on that, I have to conclude that he didn't forget, but that he had no new info for me.

He did tell me, though, that he didn't want to have my car while it was raining (makes sense I guess) and that the repair would take two days for the guy to do. He said that since I would be getting a car (vette vette vette vette please) that he can't really let me have it over the holiday weekend (unless it's out of their control) and that he'd like to have my car ideally Wednesday and return it to me by Friday.

I may call him around lunchtime today.....I just don't want to get a call tomorrow morning (Wednesday) to come on down after I've resigned the day to vegetating. I haaaate that drive and Wednesday is my only day off until the 28th.

Well, I dropped it off this AM, and at 1:25 when I refreshed my Onstar iPhone app it was 7 miles away from the dealer.........getting it's new roof.

I saw a 2012 at the dealer after I dropped the car off while waiting for the rental company to pick me up. The manager said it just came back from getting a new roof. It looked really good. Hopefully mine will be fine now!

Waiting for a call.
