200mph is fast but nothing that a Autobahn junky makes nervus ...Would like to see what this baby could do on the Autobahn 1mile away from my home... nice cold German air and miles of the fastest public road on earth the Autobahn A5 were they did the fastest ever run on a public road with 268mph (432.7km/h) over a flying km in two directions... just how you do it like the guys from M5 board . com ...take your tuned car with GPS equipment on the Autobahn next to my home and let it run... 206mph on public road in traffic... reached after 1minute on the A5.... no proving ground needed no helmet or race suit or roll cage... do not make easy things complicate ![]() Oh and btw... here in Germany topspeed is everything that matter... no one cares here about 1/4mile times... I let you win 0.5s at a red traffic light if I can own you several minutes because my car runs 20km/h faster than your car during distance driving from point a to b ... highspeed driving is long time adrenalin rush ... not a 12s rush

The front bumper seems like it's going to rip off.

That's right. Anytime you modify the pulley, you are going to be operating the supercharger in a less-efficient regime it wasn't designed for. It'll generate a lot of boost, but it will make a lot of heat. The heat exhchangers in the manifold were designed for the stock configuration.

Although the achievement is awesome, I find it a little lack-luster in a car modified to produce 140hp more than bone stock. There's not a lot of practicality in running speeds like this other than a bragging point and the only real measure of value is going to be what the car can do bone stock. This video simply shows the huge power output the 2013 GT500 has if it accomplishes this feat bone stock. Just my opinion.

This run really does validate the aero package that Chevy put together for this car. Not only will it look better than anything on the road it slices through the air as well.

Thats one of the reasons i want to get stationed in germany. Autobahn. but i would prefer to have a cage and safety equipment most of ours cars arent designed to wreck at 150 plus speeds.
And of course the http://www.nuerburgring.de/en.html

And to the OP, do you want to sell your ABM car? I would be especially interested if it was a no sunroof and M6 car

Lingenfelter, toured your shop a couple of months ago and you had your red camaro on the dyno pulling 610 at the wheels. At the time I had a ZR1 I was looking to mod. I sold it and ordered a ZL1 (needed to downsize a bit) and I have to say I'm more excited about this new camaro than any other car I've owned. Congrats on all you've done with the camaro and you will be seeing me again!

The stability / ability is proven. Regardless of engine mods. The body design is very aerodynamic friendly. Power needed to offset drag at high speed is quite incredible. Will the GT500 match it? Hopefully, if it does, it does so safely. It certainly is not going to be a run away no matter which test (top speed or 1/4 mile). It will be close. I wouldn't stand still if I was Ford, that's for sure. But, the factory cars are reaching max tolerance levels for aerodynamics, tires, control, stability, safety, and so on. I really don't see the point in arguing over unknown differentiations and hypotheticals. It's like chasing your tail. I will say this, if you own a ZL1 or a 2013 GT500, you both have maximum factory potential at your disposal. The only point of arguing is ego. So, why would the "other" fans come here to argue? My take is "Wishful thinking and self support for what they have already invested in". Which has, so far, been exceeded by ZL1. So, let them have their beliefs and don't fall prey to being dragged in to ego self massages.
PS: Good job Lingenfelter! Thanks for the testing and posting! |
