1. "It was in a movie" Yeah because most people look at a V6 and say "Oh that wasn't the one in the movie, it was the SS." Most people associate the Camaro with Transformers regardless of being a V6 or V8, I doubt most can even tell the difference.

2. A new 2012 SS MSRP starts $32,280 (right off Chevy website). "2002 SS stickered for 32k, you think that's in line even with inflation? I think not." Well I don't know what kind of inflation you're using but it looks pretty in line even without inflation to me (assuming the price you gave is correct).

3. "Get a Corvette for less than 10k extra? Based on what? Sure make it a 2SS/RS and start throwing in some other options then maybe, but some people like those extra options and they don't all come standard on the base model corvette. Why don't you compare both cars with similar options and see how they line up. You're also assuming that all people care about is performance and that everyone likes the Corvette better than the Camaro. I know I prefer the look of the Camaro for one and while I like to go fast, I'm not going to be racing mine so don't so much care if the Corvette is lighter and handles better.

4. Lets even assume you can get a Corvette for "only an additional 9k or so". How much more is a 2SS over a 2LT? $7,450. So while you criticize the V8 owners who say "why wouldn't you pay an extra $7,500 to get an SS" to the v6 owners, you then turn around and tell the V8 owners "why not throw out an extra 9k for a Corvette." Because in both cases, it's a good amount of money.

Both cars are great cars. You're not more manly if you drive the V8, but you're also not an idiot who paid a highly inflated price for one either. Be happy with what you have and stop trying to find fault with someone who got a V6 or someone who got a V8.
2SS owner here...well, nevermind...lol...well, ok...ah, forget it!...lol...

Well put above. I've pretty much sided with the V-6 side as far as being criticised unfairly. But after seeing this thread, wow...I dunno!...lol

I pay $262 a month for my 2010 1LT RS.

No offense to anyone else but I would never pay over $400 a month for a car, I don't care what kind of car it is. There are more important things in life that I could use the money for.

I have repeatedly said "no offense to anyone" and I never insulted or called anyone an idiot.

Instead of even bothering to break all this down and post a bunch of replies, I found a review that basically says EXACTLY how I feel about the whole argument. It's on the 2010 SS but still is exactly how I feel about the 2011 and 2012 as well.

IMO.......only the SS looks like a "real" Camaro.
Same here but I'm going to pay it off because I know I'll forget to pay the rest on time, SS or NO DEAL!

This statement is just idiotic. The only visible difference is the front bumper.

Is there a "Team SS" in this forum?

If not, we can start one and post in the ZL1 section how foolish they were to pay $55K.

Of course not.

Ever heard of "live and let live"?

How about "drive and let drive".

You know what? I've been patient for about 2 1/2 years but I'm going to say it now....a v6 taxi is a v6 taxi, rice it out if you want but that's what it is.

There are deals out there to be had if you really want to trade for a SS.

I just traded my 2010 LT RS w/ 21,000 miles today for a 2011 2SS RS "dealer demo" pretty much loaded w/ 6400 miles on it and am paying just $3 more per month (same loan length and nothing extra down besides the $3000 I got for my LT).

Starting to think IBTL, but I think the original topic was how much one would be willing to pay extra a month for a SS. If one says zero because you don't want one, then more power to ya (me included) but I totally respect the people that want to move to a SS.

My comment was that people need to look at the term length plus extra per month - but it sounds like there are a few here that got some great deals when they moved to the SS. If there was a way to move to a SS with the exact payment, no extra down, and same terms then I'd be lying if I wouldn't consider it. But unless resale values stay up and I find a great deal then that isn't going to happen.

Tell me what price you want for an SS and I will gladly, GLADLY slave away to get you one at that price. 2013's are a'coming....dealers know this and so do you.

Totally subjective to each individual:

What something is worth
What is affordable
What is a good deal
What is it I really want
What is it I really need

Etc., etc., Never a right or wrong answer, only each one's view that may or may not be relevant to the other....
