Marriage is what you make it. Choose your partner wisely. Working together is key. Hubby and I are partners in life. We've both worked hard, and he deserves to be happy. We discuss big purchases, but I'm always looking for a way to say yes to his heart's desires and vice-versa. When he wanted to get our plane, his ex-wife said I "shouldn't allow him" to get one. What?? I don't "allow/not allow" him to do things. I'm his wife, not his parent, and I'm going to treat him with respect. (I don't dislike his ex nor do we chat regularly-hubby had mentioned the plane at a family gathering.) We now have a Cirrus SR20 G3, and enjoy traveling the country together.

Good for those who notice the warning signs of a controlling person in advance. I've worked since my son was tiny on teaching him both how to be a good man and how to identify a good woman. I want him and his future family to be a happy one.

Btw, the Camaro will be my car. I'm the car buff in this family, lol. A couple years ago, my son had started saying he thought a minivan was the coolest car (after having to rent one for a big gathering). So, I took him to some great car shows. He was amazed, and quickly changed his mind.

Im not married but I've been with the same girl 4 1/2 years ! We dont live together, i have kids and so does she, mine are in their late teens and hers are in elementary school. Before I bought my car I spent a year remodeling the kitchen, living and dinning rooms in my condo! It took time and patience, I never forgot I wanted my camaro! One night when it got close to buying time she was at my house for dinner, (I cook every night after work, my 2 boys/men can eat) and she made a comment about me getting the car, I really had to keep my tounge tame, I work my ass off and work on the side to have the little extra, so I told her I understand where shes comming from but I will be getting a camaro for the 2012 model year!! And i did ! She was just as excited for me as I was! At the same time my coworker is married 13 years has a 4th gen 35th anv. Z28 , he got me really liking the car, but his wife will not let him in any way buy one ! He makes alittle more than me and is well grounded, plus hes like 8 years older than me , he also almost died at work , he had an aneurysm in his decending aorta in 2006! The poor man almost died and still has to wotk an put up with that shit!!! I'm sorry but being the man I will wear the pants, I feel like I deserved my car and noone was going to tell me different! To all the ladies who belong to this site cool! My girlfriend doesnt obsess about the car of course but she loves being seen in it with me! And she loves to cruise the coast at night for long cruises! Sorry so long Just really had to chime in on this! Happy mothers day to all the moms on here!!!!

marriage is a joint venture... here is what I done... I had my classic Trans Am long before we met but she was unable to drive it even after attempts to teach her to drive a manual trans car. So on Christmas i bought her a classic Corvette. later on she wanted to buy a new mustang and the dealer actually lied to her about the payments. I was furious so we went to a Chevy dealer and within 3 hours we agreed on a price and drive home the Camaro that she also really liked... for this past Valentines day I traded in the family car for her Mustang. we dont have any live at home children and are over 200 miles from the neares grandbabies. We both share a love of cars its usually a debate on what we can agree on together to purchase.

1978 Trans Am
1980 Corvette
1996 Dodge Ram 4x4
2007 Mustang
2010 Camaro

Speaking as a wife, my husband can buy anything he wants unless it's illegal, but he doesn't get to drive the Camaro without me along.

They call that a sports car...and it doesnt even come with a stick.

On the contrary, I was the one who wanted the Camaro. He came home with a Crossfire as a toy when I was the one who needed a car (mine was an Intrepid with over 120K mi on it). I was like "Okay now it is on! I am getting whatever I want". I test drove a lot of cars & hated them all. My brother-in-law said I should get a Camaro & once I drove it I had an instant permagrin. After a day of test drives my husband would ask me how I liked each one. He saw how I would light up when I talked about the Camaro & said "You won't be happy with anything else". Then after I had mine a while and got into club activities, drag racing & such, threatening to beat him in his Crossfire...................Well the male ego could not handle it & he had to get him an SS to one up me. Now we are a happy 2 Camaro family.

I bought my Camaro with my money and my husband is totally cool with it. He has no interest whatsover in the Camaro. But, he is cool with it because he knows it makes me happy. However, he knows I would never over extend our finances. I'm one of the lucky ones.

I know in some situations guys (or gals) want to buy a car that they can't really afford and the spouse realizes that it's just not practical to buy the car. Some guys (not all) dis their wives for trying to keep the family finances in line and that is pretty immature imho.

There is having fun and "you only live once" to justify it, but you don't want to dig yourself a hole you can't get out of. On the other hand, I'm all for having fun if you can afford that fun.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's and I'm jealous of you folks who still have yours!
