Everything I talked about in here - visibility, steering, materials, controls, were issues I was worried about - the cons side of my pros cons list. So now that I've taken care of those and crossed them off the cons side, I can go back to lusting after this car.

I like the new camaro a lot and I don't just want to hear reviews from people who are willing to overlook anything because there such huge fans. I personally would like to see more reviews like this and hopefully GM will take the steps it needs to, to improve its quality controls so people don't get cars like this one!

When I said I crossed the cons off my list, those were the design cons of visibility, steering, material choices, etc. I find the visibility, steering wheel, and materials to be at worst decent, if not actually pretty good, so they're not really cons anymore.

I will back off my complaint about the hole in the back shelf leather, as we have cleared that up as being where the strap for the rear seat release comes through.

The paint, door trim, and A-pillar trim I'm not backing down from. I'm bringing them up here in the hopes that members will check their cars and GM will identify and fix these build issues. We just can't get too worked up about them though since they don't appear to be widespread issues.

We didn't back down off of any thing that needed addressed. There was an issue that he thought was a problem. We have already crossed that off of the list because one (now two) of our members have shown us that we were wrong. The rest of the concerns stovt had is still there. We have done nothing but cut down on confusion...

Hey, I resemble that remark.

So what's wrong with cheeseburgers, beer, being middle-aged and cruising the boulevard anyway? Sounds like a good time.

I hope this was a really isolated incident of poor quality control. I didn't notice anything like this in my dealers demo V6. However, even if 1 in 10 have these issues its not good at all.

Keeping my fingers crossed for when mine gets here.

Glad to hear your dealer demo didn't have these problems. I'm fairly sure this one just got through when the QA guy took a coffee break.

I like cheeseburgers and beer too, and I live on Route 66, but I also have Glendora Mountain Road in my backyard and keeping myself in place using the dead pedal is destroying my knee. I need something to keep my 5-8, 140 lb frame more firmly in place.

My dealer model had no issues as well. I hate the console armrest, but the rest of the car looked good.

Wonder why they tried to hide the strap? It only confuses.

Oh, I would assume the cleaning guy saw it and pushed it up in there so it makes for a cleaner look. He didn't realize it would look like a flaw. That's my IMO

so are we saying that a 6'1 135 pound guy, would be slung around in the seats due to lack of lateral support?

The guy you're talking about needs to mix in some meat and potatos.

if your 6,1 and 135 i think you have more to worry about than a camaro, how about a cheeseburger or 3?

Appreciate the honest review, stovt001. Been waiting for it for awhile to be honest, because we had some of the same concerns.

First, as a 3-time Z28 owner and 3-time Mustang GT owner, I'm not expecting Mercedes-quality from the 2010 Camaro. I'm expecting a LOT of performance and style, and a reliable car, and anything after that is gravy.

Second, I sat in my first 2010 Camaro last Friday after work - a black V6 auto with cloth interior, convenience group and sunroof, that came to something over $27K. I don't even know what specific V6 model it was because I'm really only paying strict attention to the 2SS. Anyway, I actually quite liked the steering wheel and gauges, and the driver's side of the dash is fine. The passenger side does need something to break it up - I really think it could use a strip of aluminum or something like that - but that's nitpicking. Definitely wouldn't stop me from buying the car. And the visibility? Yeah, it would take getting used to. But the Camaros have always been low-slung cars - my '84 Z28 was no prize in the ergonomic category either.

So not having driven the car yet, but only having sat in one for 5 minutes, my conclusion was that it was about what I expected, and maybe a tad better. And yes, I am really excited about this car in general, and specifically the SS M6. I have a feeling when I finally get to drive one, most of the minor negative thoughts I have about the car will evaporate, and it will be impossible to wipe the silly grin off my face.
