You talking about the two way remote systems? I thought it would be nice if GM made a compatible two way remote for the cars. Still have yet to see a GM two-way in action.

regardless its just stupid that it wasn't even an option when I know at least half of the pre orders would have purchased it, I know I would have.

I guess overall it saves money and time on the production line but it still pretty silly. I'm sure we will see it in the 2011 model which makes even more lame.

What really sucks is this type of thing isn't easily added after the fact. Requires RFID's, or something similar, by each door, the trunk, in the seats. Then the starter button has to be installed the control box, and the the ECU flash. So even if it is an option in 2011 it probably will never be a new add on for us 2010's.

IMO just another thing to go wrong and have an interference problem that no one seems to be able to diagnose....

I have it on my vette and HATE THE EVER LIVING GUTS OF IT. Some times the vette says "no fob tetected" Most of the time this can be solved by me getting out of the car and getting back in, but this is very annoying in a rain storm or something. Some times it takes it sitting for 30 min before it will do jack shit, Once it had to have the battery unhooked and left for 30 seconds. Not fun in the heat/cold, or bad weather. Also if you loose the remote your screwed. If you loose the key you can get one made at the dealer and bring it back. if you loose the remote you gotta have the vehicle towed to the dealer or a home service come out and program the fob. Also I just think a key is cooler. The push button was cool for like 3 starts, then it just got boring, and its not as fun. When you use the key you feel more apart of bringing the car to life.

Well then that's just bad manufacturing on GM's part. I have had an 09 Lancer that i have used as a daily driver for over a year and it has never failed ONCE and im not just saying this to be argumentative. I honestly can say 100% that my smartkey/keyless entry for any of my doors, trunk, or starting has EVER failed. I have also even left they keys in my car a countless number of times and it always detects it and the car starts beeping as soon as I push the button on the door to lock it.

Another thing that i find weird about your system is that you can't use a normal key. You said if you loose the key fob then your screwed because that the only way you can start the car. If thats true that then is pretty weird. With the key that I have and everyone of this type I have ever seen there is a 'Manual' key inside the Smartkey Key fob. In my case you push a little lever to the left and a regular key comes out that you can open and start the car with.

This is how it looks normally, no key you just walk up to the car touch it and it opens. Get in and start:

Here's the only picture I could find with the manual key out of the case. You would use this in case the battery dies in the remote or what not. In this picture its a little miss leading because the person took the key out of the key fob and then fliped the key around and put the key ring side back in the opening where the key comes out:

So I hate to say it, because I know you paid alot for that car, but you got ripped. You probably should take it back to the dealer and say WTF.

ummm NAW, it would suck to have that in a CAMARO, its a muscle car, crank that shyt, spin the tires and fly off into the horizon!!! I would throw up if I got into my CAMARO and was searching for a button to press in order to turn it on... if there was a button start, it would have to be something very unique, something that would define the camaro even more than it has been, maybe a specially designed switch or something of that sort

The corvette has a key. But there is no way to start the car. Way it works is the key hole its right above the rear license plate. Which opens the truck. YOu reach in the trunk and pull the string that open s the door, and then you can open the hood to jump it, if needed. If the fob battery is dead there is a slot in the glove box you can stick it, but that never works when it does not recognize, only worked once when I had a dead remote battery.

I like it, my ex's Nissan Altima had it, loved it, did not even have to take the key out to unlock it.

Sorry, not buying it. If this WAS an option and this post was dogging the smart key half you guys would be here saying how awesome it is and turning a key and having to take you keys out of your pocket to open a door is dumb.

Its like this car is your kid and it can do no wrong. Fact of the matter is this technology is great and this time next year camaro owners will be posting at this very forum rubbing it in our faces how awesome it is and we missed out.

I have it in my 06 Vette and I have never had a problem with it.

must have done something from 07 to 06 then. Its been ok latly. But I know that there have been frustrating times. I wish I could keep the key in there and have the remote just tell the doors to open. I do love the sensor though to open the door. Thats pretty cool.

My wife's 08 Mitsubishi Outlander has done it perfectly right. If anything were to ever fail, it has an emergency key right in the keyfob. Other than that, it works all the time, every time. We've had the car almost 2 years now... and it's never failed.

I'm not going to preach the whole "this is why GM is failing... " but this is an AWESOME feature that sets your vehicles apart from the pack. Just because the 'vettes suck at implementation, doesn't mean the technology doesn't work.
