wonder why they are replacing the seals and axle nuts if it's mainly the fluilds causing
the problem.
the way I understand it is that GM did not add the additive from the factory, because after reading some of the posts, some dealers only changed the fluid and added the additive and the noise went away, but I guess it could come back.
anyone know why they are replacing seals, axle nuts with changing the fluids.

Finally got the car back today after it being at the dealer since Monday at 7AM. The noise appears to be gone, the service writer did say it may take up to 500 miles for the new fluid to break in. So if I hear the noise again during the 500 miles I'm suppose to just ignore it!

But as I said, so far so good...no noise at all!

I replaced the rear axle fluid at 2800K miles, just because im kind of picky with my vehicles. I put in 1 qt, of gear lube and 2.5 ozs of the additive. I put in the ACDelco stuff I bought at the dealership. Now I started noticeing the rubbing noise at about 6000K miles, when backing out of the driveway and turning the wheel. I also hear it a little moving forward and turning the wheel(when cold). Once I get going down the road and it gets warmed up, the noise goes away. Goes into the shop Monday. I told the service advisor about the TSB. She said she would look into it. I will report my results here after the service visit.

Just had mine done this past Friday, drive train seems to be much smoother now, or
maybe it's just in my head.
Glad to have it taken care of, dealer was super at getting the parts and getting my car in for the service work.

I would say it would apply to any differenial that is possi traction (limited slip)
if you have a limited slip diff, you would need to get it taken care of.
hope this helps

Just got my car back from the dealership. The Mechanic was showing me the TSB reports on this issue. The TSB # and what it said was just what I have been reading on this site and this thread. Knowing that I changed the fluid myself 3 months ago, and did not put the whole 4 oz bottle of additive in. They and I decided to just replaced the gear lube and put in a whole 4 oz bottle of additive. (The owners manual says to put in 2.5 ozs, but, put in the whole 4 ozs. For anyone changing their own). If the noise comes back, they will move on to the next step, seal replacement and such. I will drive it for 500 miles per TSB, and see if the noise returns. They did this at no charge, under warranty. I am happy and pleased with this dicision. Noise is gone. Time will tell.

That's how I felt too, and I wondered if it was in my mind too. Both times I had my fluid changed and when I had my seals replaced the car rolled and turned and shifted and accelerated so much better! It was like all the stress was off the drivetrain. Can't imagine how many people are driving around like this with no clue that there is anything wrong. My noise etc is back and I'm determined to get it fixed eventually and get it driving right again and forever.

I had this looked at 2 years ago and was told we don't know (when I was in Germany), now I find this TSB and my warranty expired on the 8th of August. If I take this in will the dealer still honor the repair or do I have to pay??? Only have 20,900 miles on my car

Don't you have a 5 year warranty on drivetrain?
