Just chimin' in, but do a search of the forum. It's been shown that even the V6 will perform better with premium.

To the OP, if you're puttin' regular in your SS, you might as well just get the V6—you'll probably get about the same performance because your SS will be using the low octane fuel table.

Reading through these threads I can't find whether GM has come up with a "fix" for switching to the low octane tables and never going back to the high.

What were gas prices when this thread was started almost 2 years ago? The OP probably has a Volt by now

The worst part here is he had to have just picked up his new car and already couldn't afford the gas!

Damn, it the current gas price is the absolute limit of what you can afford, look for a different car.
