Sound to me like people don't realize how much 580hp really is lol I think the ZL1 is fine with the power it has. It's 580hp!!!! My God. Just think about it for a second. 3 years ago, how many cars could you think of with that much power that someone can buy and not have to spend $150k+?

Wow, another self admitted clueless driver who doesn't know how to drive muscle cars around the track. It reminds me of that pathetic Automobile Magazine test with another self admitted single laps winner.

Thankfully, the big three car magazines found the GT500 to be as fast or a hair faster around the road courses than the ZL1. The GT500 truly is an engine in search of a chassis, and until it finds one, it will have to be satisfied with being just a hair faster than the ZL1 around a road course, and a lot faster at the drag strip. Sensible and accurate post.

The Zl1 cannot overcome the HP disadvantage except under very specific conditions...tight bumpy course. No chance in a straight line.

It is what it is. 82 HP

Nothing wrong with being 2nd in muscle performance, and only slightly so.

The Camaro is so much more than HP.

ha ha. the first reviewer to actually pick the GT500 as the winner and the trolls don't like him.

this is priceless.

Stupid dumb dummy how dare you like the GT500 better. why don't you go learn to drive.

I am seeing a trend here if you have reviewed the GT500 your stupid to the ford faithful in one way or another. if you can't drive it fast enough but like it your clueless. if you can drive it fast but don't like the traits of the car your have been bought off in some government conspiracy.

The real comparisons of course have a driver actually drive multiple laps to best drive each car to its best potential, and then objectively record the times of those best times and tests.

The ZL1 attains higher G's in the figure eight, it has 1.4 mph faster in the slalom, but on the road courses, driven to it's individual maximum potential, as the ZL1 is also being driven, the results were clearly posted by C&R, R&T, and MT.

Only the facts please. The ZL1 is so well balanced. No question the GT500 could use better Monocoque cross frame bracing, a Watts link, and some brake ducting. Everyone knew the first two issues were not going to be solved by SVT, but the third is a mystery.

WTF SVT. Erik

Not a bad review. Lol at the ford trolls. They really expect the world to think the mustang is the greatest car ever. This guy even picked the gt500.

I just enjoy seeing these two masterpieces being driven the way they were intended. If I had either one of these and saw the other on the street my mouth would still drop as I filled with excitement. We're talking about a Camaro and a Mustang that are dropping numbers in the supercar range at only a third of the price...AND BOTH ARE AMERICAN! That's just PHENOMENAL! Super muscle cars that do more than just go straight! I LOVE IT! bravo to both Chevy and Ford!

Who cares what car he picked. I don't need to have someone tell me what the car feels like as an subjective opinion. I can go test drive both of these cars and drive aggressively enough to see which I like the feel of.

It's about the times, numbers and mathematical performance. That is the only actual objective information. Every one in these forums already likes the look and feel of the cars we picked in the first place. That division is like picking girlfriends/ wives and clothing or houses. No one ever agrees on what they like or are truly attracted to.

I think the ZL1 is an amazing car. I think it is a masterpiece of design and modern engineering, for sure. But if we are talking about Muscle/performance cars, it's first and foremost about acceleration, handling hard, and braking, and finally about fastest times.

I already own an Acura RL for extreme comfort with decent handling. My Mustang is for fast acceleration, hard controlled cornering and fast breaking if needed. My Mustang can go many more mph on a long curved freeway entrance or exit ramps and maintain control and grip far beyond what average cars can because I modified it to do so. It accelerated much faster than most cars because that's what I modified it to do. These new cars don't have to be modified, much, that's why the reported numbers and stats are so important.

Both of these performance cars are so much more comfortable to drive than anything out 10 or 12 years ago it's ridiculous. Erik

I hope in "people" you are not including me, at over 1000rwhp I'm still modding. The ZL1 needs 580 HP at 4000 lbs to be a quote a muscle car. I love the car but for Ford to come out with a Mustang with almost 100 rwhp more with no gas guzzler tax to boot. I had one on order but after getting messed around by the dealer and all the QC holds a black on black GT500 is on the way. It's really all in what you want. I'm sure some people will never use the 580 but for me that's not the case.

Then why not get the ZL1 and take the $5k+ in savings (GT500 with PP and TP) and use it to mod your new ZL1 to outrun in the 500 in the straights? Already handles better.
