Team Chevrolet in Smyrna, TN was announced to close today, also. Hate to hear that this is all happening. It will turn around though!

I used to live in one of the towns that GM has decided not to renew contracts with. That dealership has been around FOREVER!!!! but they are a rip off anyway

This may have already been said and sorry if this is a repost but as I understand it, because there are so many dealerships out there that competition between them has become great and this competition dirves prices too far downward. The thought is that with fewer GM dealerships out there, less competition, will yeild more of a profit for the remaining dealerships and GM. I think I got that right. But if dealerships are independent, how is GM benefiting from this unless, GM gets a percentage cut on the sale of the car as well. I'm not clear on the details of the relationship between dealerships and GM though...

EDIT: Sorry it was a repost. Just saw it. Thanks O2BQIK for confirming that I did hear this right then.

Well, the beauty of a web site like this is to have multiple forums on multiple subjects and inside each forum are threads on subject matter related to that forum. I believe the title of this thread is "GM Dealership Cloasing List & Map (confirmed closures)" That should have been your first clue not to participate in this thread if you do not care for the subject matter. I believe there are other forums and threads on this site with plenty of cool car pics and vids to choose from.

Not intending to be a smarta$$ about it...just making an observation...

You only state the obvious, so your question about being a smarta$$ answers itself. But my comment still stands.

Because the future of the sports car, future of the Camaro is at stake.

Otherwise do you want to drive a Puma or a Smart car and live in a recycled shipping container.

Then let the warriors fight and if you want to look at pics go look at the pics thread.

Me.. i'll chill with Ted Nugent and fight for the right... to own a Camaro and cars like it and not have the Fedzilla telling me what to drive.

Sorry to hear, My dealer is scheduled to close also. I ordered in April and am hearing I may see the car in July. (First told probable fall). My dealer says their contract runs out in fall so I am no to worried.
I sent an e-mail to GM and my dealer concerned over 1 loosing my money and 2 not getting the car. The next day I got a call from owner of dealership saying not to worry and that I should see in July. GM did respond to my questions, Asking me date ordered and numbers.
If I was you I would do some traveling as to not pay the 5k over msrp.
Maybe an e-mail to gm would help.

I'm personally happy that the dealership in my area is not closing down. The owners are very nice and are fighting to make a living here. Also I have not seen the new Camaro in person and I was hoping to see it here at the dealership.

Several have asked how closing dealerships helps GM, the only explanation that I can think of is that it simplifies their supply chain and allocation. But that is merely a guess on my part, I have not heard anything specific to support that claim, but it makes sense to me.

not sure how accurate this is, I was told by a dealer that there were only 2 dealerships left in our state.

but as we know, sometimes
