From my perspective, I don't know why the engineers didn't just make the amber turn signal indicators inside the grille the default DRLs across the entire Camaro line

The 4th gen F-body's amber turnsignal/parking lamps were also the DRLs. They provide plenty of illumination during the day to see the car coming at you.

I had posted about a month ago when we drove Thor to Florida.

The HID lamps in the RS package are the best driving lamps I have ever experienced. YOU WILL NOT NEED FOG LAMPS. It is amazing how well the HID fills the front of the vehicle. You would swear you had fog lamps on.

I am with you, on a normal car, I like to use fogs to fill in the front of the car a little better. But the Camaro with the RS package isn't a normal car.

I stated that i would buy the RS package just for the HIDs, they are that good. The cool looking halos are just a bonus.

The point of fog lights is to reduce glare in the driver's eyes when driving in heavy fog- the 'wall of light' effect. HIDs have a cutoff that prevents that wall of light effect from happening- as well as preventing them from blinding other drivers. There is absolutely no need whatsoever for fog lights with HIDs. I've been driving cars with HID headlamps for the past 5 years, been through some very heavy fog with them, never had a problem with no fog lights.

I was thinking of doing the same thing... I have done something similar in other cars. The "easiest" way to make your fog lights turn on whenever your headlights are on is to make a wire jumper, and run it from the hot lead of your headlight relay to the hot lead of your foglight relay. It's very simple. Since your fuse box is already weatherproof you dont have to worry about anything happening to the jumper. And there's a few tricks you can do to make sure that the jumper is safe and no copper is exposed.

I dont have any pics for examples, but this is one of the first things that I will be doing. And I too will be buying an HID kit for the fogs. So once I get'er done, I'll definitely post up pics and write up.

No, the day time running lights are on while the headlights are not on. Someone correct me if I am wrong but thats how it worked on my last car with day time running lights. So in the non-RS packaged cars its just the headlights yet again someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct sir. Non RS, headlights function as DRL's, thus you can turn the foglights on with the headlights as you wish. RS cars, foglights are DRL's because the headlights are HID and when the headlights turn on, the car automatically turns the fogs off.

There aren't any fog lamps on the LS, and the headlights aren't HID. Any idea how that all works?

Between all these combinations, I would think that the wiring harnesses and relays could be combined to get the effect people here are looking for.

Just a FYI, and don't laugh..

The wife has a toyota siena mini van with all the bells and whistles.
It also had the HIDS, and you can adjust them up and down too..
Even with being able to move them up and down the van still has fog lights and you can have the HIDS and fogs on at the same time.

NOW, Here the thing, the HIDS are great however when you turn on the fogs in the FOG it REALLY helps alot.

I believe that all states allow at least 4 forward-facing white lights, and many don't allow more than that.

Lots of good info in there. I'm pretty much done reading mine from cover to cover...
That's easy for people with Camaros. Camaroless rabid fans, OTOH, have to get their info through discussions.

+1 I did this in my GMC. I thought it was an original idea, but it's nice to hear that someone else has thought of it. I did it very easily and simply without cutting into any wires or anything like that. Instead, I ran the jumper from one relay socket to the other and put the relays back in their sockets, which holds the jumper in place.

I also did one connection where I eliminated the relay, you can see that in the pic too.

Another possibility is to buy yourself a foglight switch that uses a "hotwire" as the trigger. The trigger wire is spliced into the halo lead or hid lead (it's only a trigger so it draws very little current). Then the rest of the switch is hooked up as you would naturally figure - one side splices into the existing DRL wiring and the other goes to a free circuit in the fusebox.

This set-up will allow you to keep the existing wiring in-tact and the DRL's will work normally. The difference is that when you turn the HID's on, which will automatically turns off the DRL's, you will be able to use the DRL's as the fogs using the new switch. Am I making sense to anyone?
